Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Indian ritual before moving into a house 21Jun 27, 2010 1:10 pm Thanks everyone. I will ask the RE to ask what it entails before giving a final ok. We have specified that both he and we must be in the house at the time happy to be in another room and allow their privacy. We also said this has to be the pre settlement inspection as well. Will send him a txt and let you know. I am sure they dont expect to be allowed to do anything dramatic we are still living here and there are boxes and baby stuff everywhere Re: Indian ritual before moving into a house 22Jun 27, 2010 3:35 pm Hi Penny, We are also Indian Hindus and we had to ask our site supervisor for the same request and he allowed us to perform the ritual before our actual house handover. We finished the ceremony in less than 2 hours and left the house more clean than before. We had to finish our ceremony as our parents were here at that time and their visa was almost getting over and also for the auspicious day. I believe there are not many good days in July and August, so that may be the reason for their eagerness to do the ritual before handover. Regards Re: Indian ritual before moving into a house 23Jun 28, 2010 4:29 pm Thanks everyone it seems to be a simple ceremony with a small shrine and the boilng and drinking of milk. We have no problem with it if it helps them have a happy start to their new life in the house Re: Indian ritual before moving into a house 26Jun 30, 2010 9:33 am Moodyfish Good choice indeed! Hi Just read the thread. Good decision. First of all all you have to do is - ask what is it that they are going to do? - how long will it take? - can I be in the house when you perform your ceremony but in another room (like you have asked). After all it is not going to be your house. If they damage anything you are there. Re: Indian ritual before moving into a house 30Aug 13, 2010 9:07 am We all have our own opinions on this subject and if you don't agree with other's, it is probably best to keep it to yourself rather than stirring the pot...especially after all this time. Re: Indian ritual before moving into a house 31Aug 14, 2010 5:37 am If you consider that the LAW is an agreement between men to obey it, also consider that when you legally own something through agreement(not theft) then its LAWful. Under these Two facts resides a truth. If they legally own the property they can do what they like, correct? Not legally owning something and then to claim religious Authorization is dubious. I dont think any God has claim. So to me a ritual would be void unless they own it, or you as the owner are allowing them to clean it before buying it. Personally i would have to know what they doing so i can agree. If I own the house and dont know what they are doing then the ritual is void. I know i just posted junk to some people, but i didnt want to say yes or no without showing some wit Re: Indian ritual before moving into a house 32Aug 17, 2010 3:40 pm Eager xanthrope Eager Those people should understand that it is a ritual in this country that NO-ONE gets to do what they want in their new house before the official handover day. Its just amusing to see the different reactions that can be stirred up in people's minds on the subject of religous rituals... hmmm Anyway, you dont need to make a big issue out of this.
