Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 25, 2010 11:14 pm Can anyone tell me how much is reasonable to get a gas point put in the Alfresco area while the house is being built, so that the BBQ can be run off the mains? I have been quoted $355, this seems excessive to me - maybe any plumbers out there can shed some light on this subject. Re: Gas point in Alfresco 9Jun 26, 2010 8:36 pm Our gas point to the alfresco was $180 or so Our house thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=18335 Re: Gas point in Alfresco 12Jun 27, 2010 9:13 am JuniorMin If you go ahead with it, make sure you advise of them of the height you want it at... Otherwise they'll leave it at about 1200mm which may not suit. Hey JuniorMin, Can you please explain this a bit more as I am new to this? My requirement is to use this gas point for a outdoor gas heater and a BBQ. Re: Gas point in Alfresco 13Jun 27, 2010 2:06 pm We were quoted about $150 for a gas point to the alfresco during our the pre-building phase, however for some unknown reason we never went ahead with it with the builder. We have just paid (in the last week or so) an external gas fitter to attach one to the brick column in our alfresco and it cost us $560. He has done a really tidy job, but there is still exposed pipework running about 400mm up the brick column so in hindsight we definately would have had the builder install it. Re: Gas point in Alfresco 14Jun 27, 2010 3:03 pm How easy is it to get additional gas points later? We had our standard one relocated to the alfresco but now we have oversahowing from our neighour it's going to be a colder house in winter than what we planned so I need to consider whether we just get a few gas points for the family room, lounge room and rumpus room done later or pay the admin fee and get the builder to do it during construction. Our alfresco is on the opposite side of the house so there will be a gas pipe going through the middle anyway. Re: Gas point in Alfresco 15Jun 27, 2010 7:21 pm Ours was $132.00 Building the Saville27 in Kellyville Ridge Floor tiles done Port-A-loo Gone Site Fence Gone Electrical Done House Cleaned Driveway Done WE'RE IN! http://ebsaville.blogspot.com Re: Gas point in Alfresco 16Jun 27, 2010 8:34 pm I would get it done prior to completion. Certainly going to be alot easier and I'd imagine it would be cheaper too. In my case, it wasn't an option to get the alfresco gas point fitted after as we have solid brick pillars. Uness of course it was retro fitted (which would look ugly) Our house thread: https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=18335 Re: Gas point in Alfresco 17Jun 29, 2010 9:38 pm Even if the builder charges heaps it is till cheaper and easier to get it done during build. The cost depends on where the nearest gas point is (they charge per metre extra run) and if they need to upgrade the gas pipe to a bigger size. anything from $150ish to our being $700+ (far away from gas point and also pipe upgrade).
