You could then open up the wall opposite bed 2 for access to the bedrooms etc. Deemaree Kyndylan Capers: viewtopic.php?f=36&t=46852 My blog: http://www.sufficientlysufficient.blogspot.com/ Re: house plan - opinions please!! 3Jun 09, 2010 9:13 pm Good idea Dee. I was thinking about adding a double basin to the ensuite and wondered about the idea of a 2-way bathroom with the main bathroom. It would be good to have a powder room especially if you have kids sharing a bathroom. I know it's not as popular in the Eastern States but it works great and you could even double the use of the powder room by having 2 basins (I must be fixated on basins at the moment). I'm not sure about what you mean about making the main bathroom 2 way though..... It means kids can be using the basins while another is showering or in the toilet. Means one child cant hog the whole room (you can tell I was one of 5 kids). Which I now remember was called a semi ensuite because 1 entry was from the main bedroom.... Gosh, you and I have been around a block or 2. I feel like you're a kindred spirit. And if one child is fighting with the other - it means they can crank the hot water tap so the child showering cops a nice burst of freezing cold water!!!! (sorry - you can tell I fought with my brother a lot and waited until he was in the shower for payback !) They are awesome ideas the 2 ways - even when you have guests and a member of the family is showering - they can use the toilet and basin! Deemaree If you made that door into the hallway where it is now a slider it would allow you to close off the hallway level with the bathroom and have a walk in linen. I know that the bathroom is not really right, is it!! Trying to get a large window in there to match the other windows at the front of the house. Also will be taking out the toliet window and adding a skylight/vent thing, also need to change the windows in the ensuite. Will be having larger bench in ensuite. Thanks again Re: house plan - opinions please!! 11Jun 11, 2010 10:25 am Hi mum2cj, I would close off toilet in ensuite, make the vanity longer and put in extra basin if you wish. I would leave heater in living room as you will heat up more area here than being in lounge room as you have doors to close off bedroom and lounge area that you can open later for heat to move into those areas of house, fireplaces are asthetically pleasing to watch and be around when cold and more people would enjoy it where you have it located now than loungeroom. Just make sure you have a fan on it, mine is in living area of a fairly large area with kitchen and dining ajoining it all open unfortunately I cant close passage off but it is still effecient at heating house and it works very well in this position. Being a woodheater it would better to keep the mess from burning in living room. cheers Kazzbah61 Re: house plan - opinions please!! 12Jun 11, 2010 10:32 pm Kazzbah61 I would leave heater in living room as you will heat up more area here than being in lounge room as you have doors to close off bedroom and lounge area that you can open later for heat to move into those areas of house, fireplaces are asthetically pleasing to watch and be around when cold and more people would enjoy it where you have it located now than loungeroom.
