Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jun 09, 2010 1:06 pm Currently we have a Dyson DC19 with the turbine head (not motorised). We also have 2 chinchilla kittens. They are very fluffy and are starting to shed alot of fur/hair. Also they love chasing and playing with each other which causes more of their fur to fall out. The Dyson does an okay job of picking up the fur and hair but you need to constantly pass over the clumps and sometimes you need to scrap the fur up with a brush first. Looking at a new vacum cleaner and have been advised the Wertheim 6030 is the way to go. Its $1500 though. I have read a few articles on it and it has received good and bad reviews. The other brand I have found is a miele but unsure which model to go for? What does everyone else with pets use? Is the wertheim worth the money? Built The Huntley 290 with HomeXcellance / Cheviot Homes Re: Which Vacum Cleaner esp for Pet hair 2Jun 09, 2010 1:22 pm Can't help you with any suggestions, but I'll be watching with interest! We're getting wool carpet and I have a ragdoll cat that leaves a lovely (!!) layer of cream fur everywhere she goes. We have a cheapy vacuum at the moment, which I have to stop and clear out the fur from the bristles after every 2 pushes Oceanic with Nautilus upgrades. Handover 8 September 2010 Re: Which Vacum Cleaner esp for Pet hair 3Jun 09, 2010 2:59 pm Upright style Dysons are about your best choice. Or a commercial Sebo upright vac is very good. Make sure whatever you get has true HEPA filtration. The turbo head you have found not so great is to be expected. Turbine driven heads rely on constant airflow to work, and are not so efficient. Its best to have the powerhead driven by the motor, and upright style vacs are much more efficient for carpets than canister type vacs. I heard recently the Dyson DC14 being advertised for $349. But this is the non HEPA model. I expect a HEPA model will be about $100 extra. So if you can get a DC14 for around $449, that's a good buy. Or the Sebo range are here http://www.sebo.com.au/commercial.html Make sure with any upright vacs that you check the brush regularly and cut out any hair that accumulates around the brush. It seems from your mentioning the Wertheim vac that you've been talking to a Godfrey's salesperson. I'm not knocking that particular vac, but Godfrey's don't generally know what they are talking about. I've known many occasions where their advice has been very questionable. Ash. Miele would suck up the whole cat if I got too close The red pet/dog Miele is identical to the light blue Miele model, apart from the head on it and a different handle (only cosmetic differences). AND the blue one is several hundred dollars cheaper. So I think go Miele, but why not go for one that has the same specs/same power/same settings but is cheaper? Re: Which Vacum Cleaner esp for Pet hair 7Jun 09, 2010 7:23 pm we just replaced our Dyson DC05 turbine head with a DC23 and I'm impressed with how much better the new model is. I resisted getting the motorhead but I expect the motorhead would make a world of difference. I wonder if you can get a motorhead for your current model. Call Dyson and ask them. I have a cat, a Ridgeback and a GSDx who sheds like a ____________ I also have a Furminator (check the videos http://www.furminator.com) which I use every couple of weeks on the GSDx and that help keep the tumbling hair weeds down. You can buy them on ebay cheaply - NB: Not for use on show animals Re: Which Vacum Cleaner esp for Pet hair 11Jun 13, 2010 5:46 pm I can highly recommend the Dyson DC25 Ball (around $900 mark) and we also have a Meile Cat & Dog (around $500). My wife suffers badly from asthma and we have two indoor little dogs (****) and both work wonderful. We tested our new Dyson DC25 recently against a few other vacuums. We vacuumed a Rumpus room with 3 other brands first and then went over the carpet again with the Dyson. We were horrified about the extra stuff the Dyson sucked up and so much more hair. Until this, I was totally anti against the Dyson but have since totally changed my opinion of them........totally blown away and no, I dont work or have an association with them. Re: Which Vacum Cleaner esp for Pet hair 14Jun 13, 2010 9:53 pm We just brought the dyson dc23, absolutly fab, we have a cavillier x border collie that lives inside we just made sure we got the turbin head. I thought all the hype with the dyson was all bull but we gave in and purchased one and we are glad we did picks up the dog & cat hair really well. FWIW I find the dyson adequate, but my dog (min pin) doesn't have fur (she has hair) and doesn't shed all that much anyway. I'll need a new vaccuum when I build the new joint, so I may have to check out this Miele given it seems to be as good but cheaper than a Dyson. Electrolux also have some good vacs. they also give dyson a lil run for their money. you can get a bagless electrolux with a motorhead for bout $699 or so. where as dyson motorhead is usually bout $1049. I honestly wouldnt waste my time with godfeys. they often tell customers misleading info especially regarding dyson. and this is because they dont sell dyson, they try to bag them out so you at least buy something from them SEZZA'S BANKSIA DESIGNER viewtopic.php?f=31&t=33423 Building with SPH SOR - Baldivis. 3/5/10 Prestart 30/5/10 Final Plans Arrive 18/8/10 Siteworks 26/8/10 Slab 14/9/10-14/10/10 Bricks (2 Man Team) 25/10/10 Roof Frame and Roof Tiles 15/11/10 Rendering -Inside walls and Front of House Lock up and Locked Out!!! 10/12[/size] Black on light wood does look good.
