Homeone is too busy weeding out 600 users that were "deadwood".

They'll get around to it soon i would assume, i had to wait about 3 days to get on and now you just can't shut me up...oh er i mean stop me....

It took me over a day and a half for mine to get activated! pretty prompt I'd say!

Yes, it does take a little while to activate forum membership as of late, as we're constantly filtering through masses of robot-spam subscriptions - one by one, and it's all done manually.

The ratio of robot-spammers to genuine subscribers is about 4 to 1. So for every 150 genuine memberships, there's ~600 robot-spammer accounts that need to be dealt with.

Previously, subscribers were automatically activated, which meant a lot less work for us, and ['unscreened'] anyone could post immediately including our much loved spammers which would explain all the porn that would slip through the net and amongst your valued threads.

It was decided sometime ago to simply 'kill off the risk of unwanted posts' altogether to make forum.homeone.com.au a happier, and cleaner place, as a result, MANUAL ACTIVATION.

For prompt subscription to this forum, please simply:

REPLY to "New user account" email which is emailed to new member upon subscription; and
Membership will be manually ACTIVATED in shorter time.

Otherwise, if you're an existing member and you're wanting to query the activation of someone you know, please PM their username to me.

On another note, there is the option of recruiting more willing Moderators to help fight SPAM, which would allow us to then convert back to the former automatic [and instant] method of activation. Our existing Moderators do a wonderful job, and could use a good hand from a stronger Moderator-base.
