What are we going to do with all that extra space?... more room to horde stuff!!

All metric - which came in in the mid 70s. Does your builders still talk in squares? - Tell them to get with it !!! No wonder some of their designs are ancient - so are their brains
Geeze I used to quote insulation for my dad in the 80's in m2. Steve FYI square Metres to squares 1 x square metre - OK I wont explain that one.
next 1 x square = 100 Square feet 1 square = 9.29 square meter (m2) And some common sizes - Ladies take it easy - settle !!!!

We then moved into a really old house - guestimate of about 10 squares  . We then moved into a old house - about 10 squares also . We then moved into a moderately old house approx 10 squares also (see a trend there? ). We now live in a joint shared house with my sister that is about 28 squares - so about 14 squares each (we're both building).
The house we're building is 23 squares - including garage, but as yet we have no outdoor area. We're slowly getting there - we may eventually move into a large nursing home - ha ha ha.
We are quite content to have a smallish house for now - we both work full time and we don't want to be cleaning/gardening the rest of the time. Speaking of cleaning - I must add that my better (?) half is very good at cleaning. I don't complain and he gets some use of his "crane operator".

Our place is about 150m², with a 195m² roof (lots of overhang - someone actually thought this place out back in the 50's!). In the back yard we have single garage. It's a tight fit (we have 4 beautiful pushbikes which must be stored inside as they are far too expensive to be stored in a shed), but we love it and wouldn't have it any other way at this stage. Things may start to get tight around March next year when we are expecting our first child. That'll be interesting to say the least. The first time! Oh my the number of times my partner (AKA housemate) has folded the washing and I've had to do it again! Along with the number of times I've wiped down the kitchen benches after he's done washing the dishes (because I think he forgot the bench gets dirty also). Just kidding, guys!
