Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Rae's apartment reno pics 41Jul 20, 2010 11:34 pm OK, so it is all in! The bulkheads are still bare craftwood so they look a bit weird - they will eventually be the same colour as the walls (Dulux Whisper White). I did expect them to be flush with the cupboards, though - am I wrong in that? The splashback will be tiled, hopefully 600x600 rectified edge tiles in a colour very similar to Whisper White, if we can find them. The dishwasher (stainless) is bought and will be installed along with the sink mixer in another week or so. We are so busy with other stuff at the moment so this project is taking a bit of a backseat for 2-3 weeks, unfortunately! I did take pics but with the still unfinished bits, and all the dust, it isn't looking great yet. I think we've done some things right and some things, perhaps wrong. But overall we're not unhappy. Feedback of ALL sorts encouraged. Re: Rae's apartment reno pics 43Jul 21, 2010 8:21 am Hi Rae, It all looks nice. I like the black bench top. I also like the layered look of the o/h cupboards and fridge space. Are you having an island bar? Just looks a little bare without it. Or maybe with a table in there wont look so empty. A balanced diet is chocolate in both hands. But the idea is that a (small) dining table could go in the centre of the kitchen somewhere. It's hard to see from the pics I've posted, but the kitchen flows onto the living area, which is about the same area as the kitchen and looks out towards the beach. Realistically it's only a small unit, and we've certainly extended the kitchen from what it was before (ie along the walls), but we're hoping the open plan style will be more liveable. It was never possible to have a dining table before - the kitchen had a breakfast bar and that was it. So the lounge feels a smidge smaller, but if it means the tenant can add a table to sit down at, hopefully it is worth it. Re: Rae's apartment reno pics 45Jul 21, 2010 8:50 pm Really nice Rae. Love the little corner shelf unit, I think it really finishes off the kitchen nicely.
