We are still choosing what colour bricks we want and have been looking at some photos and brochures with double height bricks. We love the look of them but we are worried about how much extra they will cost??? Lucky for us the brick that we loved was part of the standard selection in double height and ended up costing us nothing extra. We are not with a large volume builder so we might just be lucky with our builder. But it is probably worth checking, you might get a plesant suprise... Painting finished, time to tile! I just called NBG and they said we would probably be looking at approx $2,700 which I don't think is too bad. Considering the difference they make to the overall look of the house. Very excited now - can't wait to get into colorworld and do our selections Building the Canterbury 27E by NBG: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34051 Re: Double Height Brick Costs? 5May 28, 2010 10:55 am That's so good Candylea I just got a call back from NBG (as they wanted to check the actual price) and it will be $7,200 so we aren't going to be able to do it. It's just too expensive Building the Canterbury 27E by NBG: viewtopic.php?f=31&t=34051 Re: Double Height Brick Costs? 6May 28, 2010 1:55 pm I wanted them, but didn't bother asking what the extra price was gonna be. I can understand the bricks might be a different price, but during the prelimenary stuff they told me the brickie charges more to lay them compared to standard bricks? I asked why and they said stuff like they are more awkward, heavier etc and I said whats the difference between them and the internal double height bricks? I was met with silence and then "thats just what they charge". Re: Double Height Brick Costs? 7May 28, 2010 2:02 pm Yeah, don't you hate that type of answer. You would think though, that they would only have half the amount of bricks to lay so it would work out a bit cheaper than $7,000. It will be interesting to see what response we get when we ask about it at our colour selection appointment.
