Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 26, 2010 6:33 pm Hi Guys, Ok this may seem really stupid and the answer is probably screaming me in the face... however, I thought I'd put the questions out there anyways! We currently have a really good deal with our home phone and cable internet with Optus and we have Foxtel too (IQ2 directly through Foxtel). We are moving out on 29th June and moving in with my folks who have their phone/internet services with Telstra and they also have Foxtel (IQ1) - our build won't start until late July/August so we will most likely be at mum and dads through to the new year. We want to keep our home phone number for our new house and I would love to keep our internet deal also. When we move in to my parent's place, we will ordering a second foxtel box to have in our room. Is there a way to keep our current deals with these utility suppliers or will we totally have to disconnect them? We have had these services for 5 years and we get great discounts (and freebies) for being "loyal" customers??? Also can we just take our current Foxtel box and advise Foxtel to hook it up there and just pay for the extra box in the house even though they are different? Also how would we go about keeping our home phone number!? I will obviously be calling our services to arrange all of this, I was just wondering if there were people out there with experience or the know how on this! Regards Sleven! We sold our house in March, we had both Foxtel and home phone and internet with Optus. We were moving into my parent's house so we did not need to use these services again until at the end of the year when we moved into our new home. Wanted to suspend with both companies and pick back up our contracts (or even restrat them) when we moved into our new place. In short, both companies told me that we could suspend these services for around 3 months, but no longer. Our only option was to break out contract and pay the exit fees. We tried to see if we could take part of our contract with us to use in the interium period and this was not possible either. Optus wanted us to pay approximately $700 to get out of our 24 month contract and Foxtel wanted us to pay $300. I rang and spoke to them, then spoke to supervisors, again and again but was always told that I would have to pay these fees. Even though we wanted to continue the service later in the year and we simply had no possible way to use the service they would not budge. I phoned, emailed and did everything I could until they eventually let us out of our contracts. We genuinely intend to stay with these companies, but they really don't have any options for people who are in the situation of building and have a period of time where they cannot use their services. Good luck! Painting finished, time to tile! In my case I bought structural LVLs and scraped them back and used them as joists. 1 5159 Hi JW I just read your post and I find this situation quite strange.
