Given the slope I am considering lightweight construction with minimal site disturbance if possible. Others on the same street have built with full conrete / brick and required extensive expensive site prep. I want to keep cost down and also retain as much existing vegetation as possible. Can anyone give me an idea of cost ($/sq meter) for steel framed home with contemporary cladding and standard fitout (not basic and not expensive). I will not take the owner builder approach, will probably use an architect for design to make best use of the site. Also - I saw a technique in the UK called micro-piling. It was originally developed to stabilise railway embankments but has been adopted for home building. Has anyone experience of using this technique for foundations / piers? I reckon this will be the first of many posts Rgds Locky Re: Approx cost of steel or timber framed home 2May 26, 2010 10:56 am I strongly advise you see someone such as a builder or building company to get you a quote.
