Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Powder Room Size 2May 23, 2010 9:44 pm About 1000 wide (900mm seems just a tad too skinny) and 1500 long. Also depends on the size of the door or if it is a cavity door. If you need to conserve space, Caroma make a toilet with a basin on top of the cistern. You press flush, water comes out the tap. You wash you hands and water used to do this fills the basin. This saves space and water, but most people I talk to kind of can't get past the ick factor. We are on tank so I don't feel so guilty about the water and if I can get a cupboard in there to store toilet paper etc thats awesome. At the moment the space is 1000 wide x 2000 long so maybe its enough room. Ill see if I can get a cavity slider on there. I can probably cut in on the laundry space next to it if I need to. Re: Powder Room Size 4May 23, 2010 9:56 pm I think 1000 by 2000 would be plenty big enough. If there was a cavity slider 400mm along the wall, you could have a vanity basin at one end and toilet at other end. Otherwise a slimline vanity may work as long as it did not stick out too much. We have two - one in the garage and one adjoining the laundry. They both have a 900mm vanity plus the loo and there is more then enough room. Actually now I think about it the one in the laundry may be a bit bigger - possibly 1.5 x 2. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Powder Room Size 6May 24, 2010 11:19 am Ours is 1500 x 1750, toilet and basin with vanity underneath, hinged door 720. Re: Powder Room Size 7May 24, 2010 1:01 pm Mine room is 1250w x 2480 ... vanity is 550wx320dx880h (itty!) ... normal toilet. I'd say it was a tiny bit big (I do have a swing door tho), I could have taken 100 off the width and given it to the laundry! I get comments on how big it feels ... I like it! Re: Powder Room Size 8May 24, 2010 1:27 pm My powder room is 1600 x 1835. It certainly isn't too big, and not too small either! As we have a double storey, it's the only toilet downstairs and gets used quite often (not just guests). I have a 720 swing door and a vanity with 2 cupboard doors and 3 drawers. Great to have the extra storage space, and good place to keep sunscreen and Rid for use outside instead of walking all through the house (and upstairs). On weekends when the family is home, it's the most used toilet! Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! I just realised I should have probably labelled it better! Where the 4m line is, is the laundry. Between the laundry and Bed 3 is robe for bed 3 and linen for laundry. Where the 2m line is, is the powder room space. Initially the powder room was 2mx1m off the hall but being close to the kitchen and just so its not right off the hall we thought we could shorten the length of the laundry and have one door for the laundry and one door for the powder room off the hallway. (am I making sense!) I was thinking if we do it this way, we could hide the toilet around the corner and put the vanity on the back of the kitchen wall so you can see it from the door, it doesn't look like there is enough space to do this? http://i79.photobucket.com/albums/j132/MEV09/BATH.jpg Anyone have some bright ideas how to work this space? Thanks Re: Powder Room Size 11May 30, 2010 12:22 pm Hi Mrs. P Was a little confused by you diagram but think I understand now. Here is what I understand. THe bit behind the toilet is the walk in pantry for the kitchen. THen the laundry has cupboards either side (although only half the wall on bed 3 size as other half is wardrobe for bed 3. I think your idea would work. I would close off laundry at end of cupboards (so the 3m mark) and then have this other 1m as a alcove off the hallway. THen door to right into toilet and door straight ahead (maybe a cavity slider) into laundry. That way door not in way of storage cupboards but still have a swing door into toilet. Otherwise you will have to go into laundry to get into toilet and I am not a huge fan of this. Hope that helps. Building tip No. 3: A raft slab will not get you down a river. All the space between bed 3 & kitchen is laundry/powder room and pantry, just trying to configure it all in the best way possible. Hopefully I will have something this week.
