This forum has been a great help to date and the wife is on it all the time. I am building a new 10 x 7 shed in the backyard, which I will be decking out into the ultimate mancave. I want to put in a fireplace, and have been looking for freestanding Ultimates, Jindaras and Coonaras. The prices have been way too high on eBay and I have missed out a number of times, and then last night the wifes uncles informs me that he is replacing his wood fire heater with a new gas log fire and we can have it for FREE, BUT!! It’s an inbuilt Coonara, not freestanding!! Now I have no clue yet about how I can incorporate this into the shed, as I will need to building something up to get this thing to sit in it. Has anyone here seen this done successfully and what are my options? So far, I can think: 1. Brick it up properly all the way to the roof, but that’s time, money and very bulky; or 2. Brick it up say 1200mm, then put some sort of mantle piece; or 3. Get a Zero Box to get some clearance then build it up in a frame and clad it with some sort of fire rated plasterboard??? Would I burn down my shed with this??? Does anyone have any photographs? Or can think of some interesting ways around this one… Look forward to any replies and ideas, and thanks in advance Thanks!! Mal Re: Shed: Wood Fire Heater dilemma!! Help :) 2May 21, 2010 6:36 pm Not sure if this is of any help... Can you get a metal flue kit and run it straight up through the roof? We did this at our last house and the shed had a colourbond roof, it wasn't a very big heater and DH and a mate installed it themselves. The whole thing cost $900, below is a pic to give you an idea.
