Browse Forums General Discussion 1 May 18, 2010 6:41 pm Hello everyone, I am building a new house and the base stage has just finished (slab etc). Framing is next, and i was wondering for those who have built a new house, when at what stage should i inspect the property (i.e. make sure measurements are ok, and nothing do*dgy is happening). The builders have selected their own inspector, however i heard its good to get independent inspections etc, or is it good enough for me to inspect the property myself at each progress stage? Also, anyone got good references for some inspectors in canberra? Thanks everyone, this forum rocks!! Re: Building new house - when to inspect building process 2May 18, 2010 8:46 pm Personally I asked my builder to supply me with a copy of my wall and roof truss plans and made sure everything was as it should be according to the plan. Once the walls and roof were done I went down and measured all the rooms and walls to make sure they were the right size, they were only off by .001mm! very impressed. Just make sure you do it before the bricks go up, makes it easier if there is something wrong and also before your progress payment so if something is wrong you can withhold it until it's fixed.
