I know it is the effect of thermal expansion/contraction and google searching either says it will go away over time or that it shouldn't do that. Any advise is greatly appreciated. Thank you.~~ Re: Steel Roof Frame creaking/popping 3May 07, 2010 12:15 am No, it's a tile roof. Forgive me for my ignorance, but what is 'sarking'? What does it look like? When I pop my head through the ceiling's man-hole, all I see is blue-colored steel frame of the roof, bags and bags of something everywhere and central air-con distributor unit. Re: Steel Roof Frame creaking/popping 4May 07, 2010 9:51 am sarking is the blue foil under the roof cover. Chances are you dont have if its tiled roof. Also sounds to me like your insulation hasnt been installed. I would be calling the builder back quick smart. Once the insulation is installed you may hear less noise. Re: Steel Roof Frame creaking/popping 5May 07, 2010 5:13 pm A few years ago we owned a steel frame house but it had a colourbond roof and the ceiling was 25mm V-jointed Tassie Oak, then under the colourbond was sarking with insulation batts held in place with wire netting...some days you could vaguely hear the popping sound when the sun/shade changed the roof temp but I suspect this was deadened quite a lot due to the insulation and timber ceilings. So I suspect that what you are hearing is quite normal. Is your ceiling insulated? This will make a big difference. Ain't that the truth! We used to have a tile roof and had it replaced with colorbond and suddenly everything throughout the entire house sounds louder! 4 852 Hi I am wanting some opinions about the build of a steel shed I am going to get one about 4.5 x 2.5 m steel shed and the height will be about 2.3-2.4m high The one I am… 0 10538 Hi, I have a steel frame house which was built 2 years ago.
