Re: How much does it cost to have a hole cut out in granite/ 8May 07, 2010 5:26 pm First of all Hiccup- love the name; is it from how to train your dragon? Anyway, with regards to cutting granite etc the reason why it is expensive (as far as I know) is because they have to use a diamond saw blade to do the cut. My parents just had granite installed on the bench in their kitchen and the cutting cost more than the granite (but they did get the granite for a bargain ) Re: How much does it cost to have a hole cut out in granite/ 9May 11, 2010 12:31 pm Melly03 We have just been quoted for a undersink cutout in stone and it came in at $510. If you were to include a cutout with a drainer cut into the stone...$1090. Wow, that's a lot. Does that include a tap hole as well? What do you mean by this If you were to include a cutout with a drainer cut into the stone. Re: How much does it cost to have a hole cut out in granite/ 10May 12, 2010 10:49 am I'm pretty sure it does. Our kitchen designer can cut a drainer into the stone...similar to what you have with the traditional sink where you have a bowl or two and a metal drainer where dishes can be left to dry. With an undersink you obviously can't have the drainer as per the traditional however one can be cut out of the stone next to the undersink. Does that make sense? I've never seen this before and had no idea it was possible! Re: How much does it cost to have a hole cut out in granite/ 12May 12, 2010 12:15 pm My kitchen place told me this wasn't really recommended, as the stonemason can never quite get it 100% polished without any little flaws, and it is more prone to damage. Not sure if true or not. Re: How much does it cost to have a hole cut out in granite/ 13Mar 10, 2011 8:03 am Mmmm interesting they charged fir a hotplate and tap cutouts Yes undermounted sinks are more work should be about $300 can’t tell from the photo, a tie down rod will be 12mm, is it a steel beam? he should be able to work it out 1 4461 Thanks for your advice. So far i have not noticed any issues with doors and windows. Builder advised they will organise drainers to inspect 2 weeks ago but no further… 7 18788 0 9808 |
