Re: Blocked Ducted Vacuum 6May 04, 2010 9:43 am mohit Hi gurus, I have a Hills Ducted Vacuum cleaner for the last 6 months. It had beenw roking finr till last week when it stopped suddenly. On doing my "extensive" search, I found that the steel pipe that connects the hose to the accessories has a blockage. On calling up the mob who installed this system, I was told that it is going to cost $150. I tried the old broom handle trick, but the blockage is not moving out. Any ideas on how I can remove that? No mood to pay $150. Thanks, Mohit If you mean the telescope wand, then a new one is $29.95 but I can't see why you can unblock it either way $150 is unbelievable they must be quoting on unblocking the pipework even then it's expensive. Re: Blocked Ducted Vacuum 7May 04, 2010 11:54 am So, how far up the pipe is it blocked? You say you have put a hose up there so the blockage is reachable? Perhaps get a length of that flexible plastic yellow tongue - see any builder or electrician they will have a length of the stuff - and on one end wrap with ducting tape some sort of hooking device that you might be able to force into the blockage and drag it towards you. However if the problem is beyond any right angle bends in the pipe then I doubt the yellow tongue will go beyond that. good luck. barkly Re: Blocked Ducted Vacuum 8May 04, 2010 1:02 pm The blockage is near the angle bend on the plastc thing attached to the tube. I have been trying to push the blockage towards the angle from the front of the pipe (where the suction attachments are put). Haven't been able to do that as yet. Will try with teh yellow tongue (I am not sure what it is, but will have a chat to my neighbour, who is a sparky). Cheers, Mohit Re: Blocked Ducted Vacuum 9May 04, 2010 1:27 pm mohit The blockage is near the angle bend on the plastc thing attached to the tube. Cheers, Mohit The part you are referring to is called a curved wand (or handle) often it's difficult to clear because of the bend. Hair clips or toothpicks are often the culprits. If things go pear shaped a replacement isn't expensive Re: Blocked Ducted Vacuum 10May 06, 2010 7:25 am Fixed the blockage....use of boilde water with detergent on the hose and then high pressure water from Karcher!!
