Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 30, 2010 2:31 pm Hi I'm totally new here and we are about the sign the initial agreement to build a new house in WA with Redink homes. [complete 250] We requested to have 30c ceiling through out living, meal and hall ways..and of course including kitchen? then I realiesd it's a trend to have dropped down ceiling in the kitchen area... haven't asked sales rep for a quote for dropped ceiling but my partner seems to think that it's ridiculous how we need to pay close to 10k to raise the ceiling and on top few more thousands$$ to drop it down that little space...what's your thoughts on this? 30c ceiling through out open plan.....or dropped down ceiling in da kitchen? would it look funny if i have high ceiling in the kitchen as well????? btw, im getting custom-made cabinets in the kichen that's 220m height ...... Please help!!! as we progress on the house, i'll provide infos on it too:) Re: 30c ceilings in the living/meal/hall way...kitchen????? 2Apr 30, 2010 11:48 pm Hi, definitely get the raised ceilings. You can install bulkheads in the kitchen at a later date if you really need to save money now, but you cant raise the ceilings. Our first house had 31course ceilings through the whole house (including kitchen) and it makes things feel so much more open. Towards the end of our time in that house I had started to think about installing a bulk head over the kitchen benches but just ended up selling instead. Our new house we are about to build has 33 course ceilings through the family/dining area with a -4 course bulkhead over the kitchen. I don't think bulkheads are necessary but it is the latest look and particularly in double storey houses it gives you area to run A/C ducting. Higher ceilings were a must have for us, defo can't do those later! Re: 30c ceilings in the living/meal/hall way...kitchen????? 4May 01, 2010 8:25 pm Hi guys thanks so much for sharing.
