The surface really needs to be flat after the third coat, because otherwise you'll be able to see any distortion or bumps after painting. (We've pretty new to this, which is why I haven't replied before, but we've just done two rooms with new insulation and gyprock, and a slightly textured paint hid minor imperfections in the plaster joints). Will have to redo areas where bubbles are. I don't know, Martina - we used mesh tape, not paper tape. When we used plastic tools, we got a few really small air bubbles that appeared when we sanded back. In the second room, we used a metal tool to apply the jointing compound and there were no air bubbles. Was it a corner join that had the bubbles? I thought you meant the joins/joints between the edges of two gyprock sheets on one of the flat surfaces of the wardrobe. Yep, just cut the tape back to an edge with a Stanley knife and refill with base coat then the topping cement if the bubbles aren't too long--probably not enough base coat when you bedded the tape or a high point in the joint, you can't just cover the bubbles as everytime you put another wet coat on it just continues to draw the tape to the surface again, usually you don't notice until you sand it Re: Plaster Tape bubbles 9May 05, 2010 4:12 pm It is not corners it is on butt joints between two sheets, we have teh metal stuff on the corners and it works well Going to attempt to cut the bubbles out and see how we go We couldn't find the mesh tape at our local hardware store unfortunately Hi, Have used the Dulux 1 step, oil base on my walls(white set), out of can it’s already a more thinner product than a final coat paint Also in water base Water or… 3 5039 yeah i couldnt picture it issue either, but i could clearly picture what they were doing wrong haha 2 5302 Our 6m high Cathedral ceiling has 0 insulation, just plaster, wrap and tiles as far as I can tell.
