Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 22, 2010 10:31 pm We went ti winning appliances and were looking for the miele washing machines. l spoke to the sale rep and he said that they can not give any discount on Miele products and that applies with all other stores. l was wondering has anyone ever received discounts on any Miele Products. If so where did you purchase it? Handover date 3rd August 2010 WOOHOO!!! Re: Re: Discounts on Miele products 2Apr 22, 2010 10:42 pm There was a previous thread discussing this exact issue. If I remember correctly if there is a discount then every other store will give you the same discount. It's how miele do business (good or bad) Re: Re: Discounts on Miele products 3Apr 22, 2010 10:49 pm Thanks for the info. l'll have to look up for the thread Handover date 3rd August 2010 WOOHOO!!! Re: Discounts on Miele products 5Apr 22, 2010 11:14 pm We managed to get a miele oven discounted but only because Harvey Norman were changing their showroom and clearing stock in the Jan sales. They had to give us the discount but still pay Miele the orig price. As you said, Miele don't give discounts! We have brought a Miele dishwasher and oven. Re: Re: Discounts on Miele products 6Apr 22, 2010 11:45 pm We've bought quite a bit of Miele stuff over the years. When you buy it, the contract is with Miele, not with the retail store. So, the price is the price Miele decide on, regardless of which retail store you buy it from. I guess they pay the retailer a percentage. There are discounts and "freebees" but these are only those spelled out on the Miele website. They also have "scratch, dent and superseded" outlets with the spare parts section next to their main stores. (At least in Adelaide) Our rangehood was a demo model that had been on display at Harvey Norman and we got 30% off. But it was still invoiced by Miele, not HN. One way to "get a deal" is if you're buying something else as well as the Miele stuff. A good way to be able to get a great price on, say, an Electrolux fridge is to buy it when you're also buying a few Miele appliances. I can't quite see how it fits with the ACCC legislation, but I guess other companies are the same (eg Apple) and they've got a right to decide how much they will sell their products for. It's a different sales model to the usual "retailer buys the stock and sells it for as much as they can get or as little as they're willing to". I don't really enjoy price bargaining, but the haggling game is the done thing in major purchases in Oz now. I almost welcomed not having to go through the "what's your best price" ritual.
