We have a very bad neighbour on one side which have been trying to give us a hard time ever since our construction started 2 years ago... Even though that old timber fence almost collapsed, they just don't care. All our other neighbours happily shared the cost for new fence except them, insisting "since we are building a new house, we have to pay for the cost of the fence"... We tried council, and even legal help, in the end unfortunately there's really not much we can do to force them to pay anything if they don't agree to. We were told even if we bring them to court, they could easily claim that they don't have any money and there's nothing we can do about it... In the end, we just plant some plants along that side and after almost 2 years, they have grown quite well and sort of blocked that half-rotten, old timber fence completely...
