I got it and was all excited about it only to find that its a little more difficult to manouvre than I thought - its a great program and I think you should get it.... but my computer must be a little too slow for it as it gets frustrating when I am trying to get ahead quickly and the program stalls..... Re: My Virtual Home software - FREE 24Oct 10, 2007 9:42 pm Ruth,
Heres a tip: Get rid of all the things that you don't need until later! The clutter that is furniture etc takes up memory that could be used elsewhere for processing. I find when designing that it is easiest to clear each room of everything except the light until I have the plan done and then ad the furniture I need for each room. It will speed up the whole process for you. We should have a new showcase up here to see what people have done with it. Re: My Virtual Home software - FREE 26Oct 11, 2007 6:26 pm Ok... Question for anyone who can help me out here regarding MVH.
It says if you want to change the look / colour / style / add bits etc, you need to right-click on an object, for example the front door, & it will open the context menu. When I right-click on the item it does nothing... no po-pup menu. If you're not sure on what I mean, it's shown in the "Getting Started" pdf file on pg 117. Also it says if you want to add a wall junction to right-click on a wall & it will add one... Same deal, not happening for me. Do I need to change something in the settings first or am I not holding my tongue properly Any help will be much appreciated. Cheers, Mike. My Blog... http://ahouseonthehill.blogspot.com/ Re: My Virtual Home software - FREE 27Oct 17, 2007 6:09 pm I got this program perhaps a year or so ago when it came as cover CD on BH&G magazine, and when I installed it on my 1GHz 256MB RAM it was veeerrrryyyy slooooow so I ended up abandoning it altogether.
Earlier this year I beefed up my PC to a 2.5GHz 4800 DualCore 1GB RAM (perhaps another 1GB RAM would make it faster) and reinstalled it when a new version of MVH arrived as another cover CD in BH&G magazine. I must say it's 500% better and faster than before (probably more due to my PC upgrades than the software), however after starting a second level design, it does grind to a halt. I have already started the previously-mentioned suggestion of removing all unnecessary features to help speed it up. The program itself seems pretty intuitive and easy to use. I don't like the limit of 5 storage spaces for saved homes/plans though. Does anyone know if there is a full version that supports more (apart from online storae locations)? One problem I do have is when I add rooms, occasionally it retains the external brick wall as an internal wall, and I'm unable to remove or change it to an internal wall without re-loading the home (or using UNDO) and trying again - but I've yet to get it to change an existing external wall to an internal one. Is it the way I am adding rooms? It usually occurs when there's a 90 degree external wall between two adjoining rooms and I try to place another room on the outside of the two walls (which seems no different than adding rooms normally). Also sometimes when I add external windows and doors, and you go to 3d view it, the brick wall is still in behind the window... Perhaps the auto-placing isn't putting it right on the wall where it's supposed to be... Re: My Virtual Home software - FREE 28Oct 18, 2007 9:18 pm Yeah, a lot of issues come about when it tries to snap the walls together. Re: My Virtual Home software - FREE 29Oct 22, 2007 1:30 pm Apologies if this seems like a silly question, but will this software allow me to "map out" my rear verandah that I am converting to an entertainment area?
I am installing a spa and bar and would love to have a 3D representation of the area to get a better idea of what and where to place things? So I guess my question is - will it allow me to manually create images of a spa and bar, or does it use stock standard items? Re: My Virtual Home software - FREE 30Oct 22, 2007 1:51 pm McReidy,
You can only use the standard items included....no drawing allowed. Re: My Virtual Home software - FREE 31Oct 22, 2007 1:52 pm mattwalker McReidy, You can only use the standard items included....no drawing allowed. Cheers Matt.. Are you aware of any programs that would allow me to do that (preferably cheap or even free?) Re: My Virtual Home software - FREE 34Nov 05, 2007 5:12 pm A demonstration of what MyVirtualHome is capable of by myself.

It will upload and voila!!! Re: My Virtual Home software - FREE 38Nov 13, 2007 11:14 am Is it just me, or does the program seriously slow down when you get part-way through creating a second storey? I haven't gone through and deleted all unnecessary items yet (as was suggested on the previous page of this thread), but it seems to be very slow at placing new rooms (it tends to redraw each item in slow-motion). Looks like I'll have to delete all items until I've finished creating the rooms for the second storey. To add them in later, I assume you go to add a new room which contains the items you need, place to room off to the side somewhere (unattached to the building), then drag the needed items into the proper location?
I even added an extra 1GB RAM last week to see if it made much difference (walk-through in 3d mode is alot smoother, but building rooms isn't much quicker). We already paid for somfy motors for the blinds. The quote above was purely for “pre-wiring” so the blinds company can install the motors and blinds. That’s why we… 5 8012 Builder is giving 2.7 ceiling height for both floors - double storey home. Will the ceiling height is maintained throughout the home including bathrooms, garage, alfresco… 0 3920 |
