Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 16, 2010 10:00 am Hi all I know that Dulux Hogs Bristle has been discussed lots earlier this week, and seems to be a really popular colour. I'm contemplating painting my new (well new to me) house in it, but the tenant is in there so I can't get in to paint some test pot walls yet. The house is really light and airy, and has that warm coloured woodgrain vinyl on all floors. I like a nice warm feel to a house, but don't like really yellowy creams, but nor do I like grey! I'm thinking of doing the walls 1/4 strength, with one wall (the one opposite all the windows) in each room in 1/2 strength, with antique white USA ceilings. I'm wondering if hogs bristle looks greyish when the whole room is painted, particularly in a very light situation? My second choices are Crewelwork (full and half strength), or bone white, full and half strength. Any ideas anyone? Thanks! Re: Dulux Hogs Bristle - does it look greyish? 3Apr 16, 2010 10:17 am Its more beige. Type 'Dulux colours' into your google and you can see Hog Bristle in all tint strengths on the Dulux site Arfur Re: Dulux Hogs Bristle - does it look greyish? 4Apr 16, 2010 10:17 am It's a very nice colour - definitely not greyish but it's not too yellow either - I painted my brother's house in Dulux Hogs Bristle half - it does look very fresh and airy - definitelly a good colour. I have HB half strength on the lower part of my walls and quarter on the upper part above the picture rail. You really need to do a sample though, I tried 2 other colours in the inside of my house (one looked pink, the other greyish purple) and 4 on the outside before finding the right colour. Re: Dulux Hogs Bristle - does it look greyish? 6Apr 16, 2010 3:06 pm We're using Hog Bristle 1/4 on everything, apart from ceilings. The painting has not started yet so I can't show you any pics. But, can I suggest, if you can't get in to do a test paint, then try this. Go to Bunnings etc and get a smallish piece of mdf and paint it with undercoat and then two top coats of colour and see what you think then. You can paint multiple pieces with different strengths and compare them. This is exactly what we did and it has worked really well for us. I also agree the colour is more cream/beige Re: Dulux Hogs Bristle - does it look greyish? 8Apr 19, 2010 9:49 am Wait until you get in and do tests on different walls in different rooms... different paint colours will look different in other peoples houses at different times of the days based on the available natural lighting and the angle of it , the colour of the flooring and also the furniture. What may look good in house A at 1pm in the afternoon may not be the look that you want in your house... hope that makes sense.
