Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 14, 2010 10:25 am Hi, I am currently looking into the costs involved with gyprock plastering a whole house? I will need to be completely re-plastered my whole house. Ripping the plaster down will be a sunday afternoon job with a few mates and a few cans. By ripping down the plaster myself i can then allow the time for electricians to come in and re-wire before i get the plasterers in. I may take the job of installing the new gyprock myself but am interested to see what the costs involved will be firstly. So I was wondering if anyone who has built a new home (3 bedrooms) could tell me the plaster costs involved? or if anyone has renovated and completely re-plastered a house? Re: Plastering whole house costs? 3Apr 14, 2010 2:48 pm Wow! Thats a lot of money. I dont see it as a huge job, maybe 2 weeks max if working fulltime. Thats double the price of what i expected. I will definitly be learning how to install gyprock and having a go at it myself. Thanks Dirk. Has anyone had DIY gyprock experiments? Is it easy to install? Re: Plastering whole house costs? 4Apr 14, 2010 5:19 pm Its easy to install it, but the next part will be tricky - filling and sanding joints and doing corners and also cornices Re: Plastering whole house costs? 5Apr 14, 2010 7:54 pm athomasd Wow! For 10k i expect to be able to get my far more smaller house predominantly plastered. I am going to get some quotes. Do plasterers come and do quotes or do they just give you a per square meter figure? Re: Plastering whole house costs? 7Apr 14, 2010 10:24 pm athomasd PHEW! Your house is rather large! How do you know the exact measurements??, a good guide-used in the industry is to multiply your floor area by 3.17 times at 2400 ceiling height, also, if this is of any help to anyone as regarding how much cornice you might need, multiply your floor area by 1.2 times Re: Plastering whole house costs? 9Apr 15, 2010 3:55 pm Our setting (filling in holes, cornices etc) cost around $7K. That is for a 27square house. My husband used to be a plasterer and so hung all the gyprock himself, but he didn't want to do the setting as he hasn't done this for a while and wouldn't be able to do a good quality job. Perhaps you could hang the gyprock yourself and then get a plasterer to do the finishing touches like we did? The wall sheets are easy enough (so I believe) but it's the big ceiling sheets that are the hardest, you will need a few strong people with you to help lift them. If this is a custom build then I would expect the builder to set out the door frame closer to the wall to avoid the gap between architrave and the wall and or specify… 9 8306 I am not sure whether Perth has its own way of doing things in regards to this. Most of Perth has class A (sandy soil), except for some areas near rivers or hills. 2 13098 Looking to tile the facade pillars rather than rendering. Builder is quoting 2500$ laying cost for upto 10msq. The 2 pillars come to be 16msq. So laying costs are 5000$… 0 7546 |
