Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 12, 2010 2:34 pm Hi All, This is my first post so please excuse me if I am missing anything. I am total newbie to buying home or investment. Our history + story: 1. Couple renting since last 1 year.. no kids 2. Paying AU $1000/mth as rent 3. Planning to leave Aus after 3 years so wil be selling our property (if any) 4. Not planning to keep any property in Aus once we leave. After paying $12,000 + Elect. for 1 year now we are thinking to buy our own property since we thought it's better to pay house installment then paying rent. Questions: 1. Is it worth buying property now and selling it in 3 years time? Not hoping to make big profit but thought it will be atleast better then renting. 2. What is better option with less investment? Townhouse or normal house? Thanks, Homer Re: Buying owner occupied property for 3 years in Brisbane.. 2Apr 12, 2010 9:58 pm Hi Homer what area in brisbane are you looking in? The Brisbane market is a buyers market but in saying that there is a current shortage of stock on the market and slowly pushing prices up a little. Townhouse would be a cheaper option for you. If your looking to sell in around 3 years you will definatly make money what ever you buy. My advise would be do your research, go along to as many open homes as possible and make sure you are not paying over market price and you will be right. Hope this helps.
