I am not sure what to get a leather of fabric sofa.
My issue is that a fabric sofa can stain easy and be harder to clean over a leather. The price of leather is a lot which I am annoyed about.

My late gorgeous puss cat has ruined our fabric sofa by using it as a scratch pole. My vote would be for leather as I find it comfier to lounge on. Re: leather VS fabric 3Apr 06, 2010 8:52 pm Our lounges are leather - super easy to keep clean, but can be cold in winter and sticky in summer! There are places which do combination leather, so all the parts you sit on are real leather, the arms and back look just the same but are not. It works out much cheaper! She's backkkkk... Re: leather VS fabric 4Apr 06, 2010 8:53 pm Yep, leather for me too. Easier to clean...... Building on an acre in Macedon ......one day. Re: leather VS fabric 5Apr 06, 2010 9:38 pm I would go for leather as well as it can be wiped down. I had a beautiful sofa recovered a few years ago in a neutral coloured fabric and it is ruined now from general grime, mostly on the hubbys side. We tried cleaning and it doesnt work. I just bought a white, yes white sofa but we bought a leather type product called eurohide. I have no idea how it will wear apart from the salesmans spin who promised its extremely durable and can be wiped over. I wanted leather but our budget just coudnt stretch and this one was half the price and its promised to be as easy to clean as leather. My new sofa looks sensational and i love the white. I'll tell you in a few months if white is a total disaster but i would give the fabric a miss. Re: leather VS fabric 7Apr 06, 2010 10:33 pm We couldn't find any lounges we liked in fabric and so ended up getting leather. We plan on getting another lounge which may end up being fabric. Re: leather VS fabric 8Apr 06, 2010 10:45 pm I have fabric lounges and 4 children! The catch is, the covers are removable and washable. I would only go fabric if I could clean the covers easily, or get a nicely made slip cver made that can be washed. I love the smell of freshly washed couch covers and they(ikea) sell replacement covers too. Re: leather VS fabric 9Apr 06, 2010 11:22 pm I'm a fabric man myself. Leather in my car is enough for me. I find fabric much comfier to lounge on but as seen in this thread, it is personal preference. I don't have kids and won't for some time so keeping the couch clean isn't an issue. I just vacuumed the surfaces and occasionally had them professionally cleaned when I had my carpets cleaned. |
