Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Apr 02, 2010 6:40 pm Hi Just wondering if I can run stormwater from the house roof, approx 15mx10m plus a shed of 6mx3m - into a 60mm PVC pipe??? Is the stormwater pipe big enough? We are redoing the guttering on the house and want to plumb it all into the stormwater drain. Previously half the house went into a leaky tank. Thanx Re: Quick question Re Stormwater and pipe size 3Apr 02, 2010 6:55 pm Fu Manchu I'd use a 90mm pipe. The existing pipe to the street is 60mm. If we had put it in originally we would have used 90mm but we dont really want to replace the pipe if we can avoid it. The pressure in the 60mm pipe will be fairly high and it wouldn't surprise me if the gutters overflowed with light/moderate rain as a result. The potential for blockage would be high too. It certainly wouldn't be specified as such by an engineer and there's probably a good reason for that. Could be fun to try it though and see what happens...... Cheers zeke Re: Quick question Re Stormwater and pipe size 5Apr 02, 2010 7:19 pm Well I will probably give it a go. Ha ha. Nothing has drained properly for a while so it won't be much different. Ha ha. Does anyone know the maximum flow rate for a 60mm (OD) pvc pipe? Plumbers 'can be' plumbers, made all the worse by self certification which the building surveyor invariably accepts as proof of compliance! The good thing is that you know know. 3 4872 Hi All!
