Re: Mice 83May 12, 2011 6:59 pm we got a 3rd on on Sunday night. I heard something rustling in the pantry on saturday night but dind;t catch anything over night. None since. DS number 2 discovered during the week it had been at his mexicana corn chips as there was a big hole in the side of the packet( He'd opened them on saturday so I assume that was what I heard rustling). He was not impressed. Oh well. Re: Mice 84May 12, 2011 7:07 pm kexkez we got a 3rd on on Sunday night. I heard something rustling in the pantry on saturday night but dind;t catch anything over night. He was not impressed. Oh well. I think they have been at Wollies, here. I heard one of the workers say last week to another worker. "Have to throw these out" he said " the mice again" "yes" she said. they are everywhere. Re: Mice 85May 12, 2011 8:15 pm When I lived in the country I used rat-sack once only.... i had mice dying all around the house(what a terrible death even for a mouse-I put them out of their misery fast in getting the dog to kill them with one bite-she was smart that dog and did not eat the poisoned mice ) Terrible story-isn't it!? and some I could not find at all(under the house). Imagine 'that smell". YUCK! Re: Mice 86May 13, 2011 4:57 pm I had an experience with a mouse this morning. I am a teacher and we had a sleepover with the students at school last night. I got up early and headed to the loo. This a room with no windows, I didn't want to wake anyone up so headed in without turning on the light then shut the door. It was pitch black. I then turned on the light, made myself comfortable and then noticed the dead mouse on the floor, that I must have just missed standing on, in the dark, in bare feet!! Yuck!! I was screaming internally at the thought of it!! Had to be internally, didn't want to wake up two classrooms of sleeping 8 and 9 year olds! My next thought was, what am I going to do with it! I have to admit I did wonder if it would flush. I didn't do it! I put on gloves, got some paper hand towel and threw it in the garden!! I HATE mice!!!!!!!!!! Lucky you never stood on it, I couldn't cope if I stood on one. Re: Mice 88May 13, 2011 5:36 pm We caught our fifth one in the garage overnight. I saw its little tail No way I could actually get rid of it. That's DH's job. Re: Mice 89May 15, 2011 7:45 pm Finally 1 dead mouse today. Poor little thing. The dog who is meant to catch mice was scared of it (it was dead) Only took about a month to catch! Cleverest mouse ever! I cannot deal with mice/rats so yes DP got rid of it. It's like he knew it was his job without me having to say! Re: Mice 90May 17, 2011 9:57 pm Look under your power points, friends had a bucket of water under a power point to catch the mice at their house. They squeezed into the house through the smallest gap ever under the power point into the bucket of water. Ratsak is good, but then they can die in a cavity and that will stink. The wee that they leave from the ratsak is red and stains everything as well. The grills for vents for gas heaters is another place they get in. Good Luck! Re: Mice 91May 17, 2011 10:30 pm We have a large aivary in the backyard and a park over the back fence - mice are inevitable. Happy for them to roam in the garden but have to keep them out of the aivary as they can harm the birds. If they are game enough to take on our cat inside the house, more fool them. On the weekend we found a nest (of mice) in one of the habitat logs in the aivary. Had to flush the little buggers out with the hose then let them go for a swim in a bucket of water with the lid on . Next thing, one of the babies goes shooting out of a small gap in the lid and flying accross the yard, landing all wet and bedragled on the lawn. My hubby was so impressed with its will to survive that he released it into the park. Funny thing is, later that night the cat was going nuts at the back door. Low and behold a little mouse was stuck between the glass sliding door and the security screen. Maybe it was 'Rambo' back and seeking retribution for his lost family Re: Mice 92May 28, 2011 7:42 am http://dicksmith.com.au/product/Y2325/pestxit-duo.jsp found this on another thread, I have ordered one. It's meant to work, sold out in alot of places. Put a mat under your garage door, that's where mine come in and most people I have spoke to said the same. Re: Mice 93May 28, 2011 12:09 pm Have had no mice problems since the neighbors pigeons moved out. Yesterday found a secret stash of packet of caramel crows 1/3 eaten. It was there 2 weeks. No mice evidence. We have caught 2 in 2 days. Cannot find any mice evidence, anywhere. Not even an odour, these buggars are toilet trained. Using plastic traps and block suspect holes/gaps with metal soapless scourers. It's a crappy rental that we have donated 16 scourers to over the years. WL stage 8 Re: Mice 94Jun 03, 2011 12:25 am I have a sonic thingymajig and so far it seems good (have not had a mouse since i put it in) and prior to that we had had about 5 in about 2-3 months (been in 6-8 weeks now). I use ratsak in the roof and traps inside when i have needed to. In the country where we are having almost plauges there is no way you can do it without bait. A work collegue catches 50 per WEEK most in buckets but she has no idea how many have eaten the bait and left. A relative lives in another country town and they catch 10 easily each week plus what they have baited outside and in their roof, their house stinks and they have to get up into the roof every week to clear it out and get about 10-30 every time. I had another friend put a buckets in her laundry and she caught 36 in one night. I heard something yesterday where they got into the quantas plane and chewed something important. They are everywhere, it's like attack of the mice the people that make the traps, bait are probably breeding them somewhere Re: Mice 96Jun 03, 2011 11:03 pm discovered a dead mouse (I am the killer!) sitting in one of my desk drawers in the corner. Absolutely horrified, there were photo frames in there and it had chewed the corners off most of them....why? Felt slightly guilty as it was a result of the ratsak but seriously, don't take up residence in my house without an invitation! Re: Mice 97Jun 04, 2011 11:48 am The sight of all those mice on that giant trap made me feel queasy. I'd have to move. Seriously. I can deal with all manner of bodily fluids but rodents make me want to spew... my new build thread- Ben Trager https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=89826 my switch build thread (2011) https://forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=36569 Re: Mice 98Jun 19, 2011 9:07 am We found out about a week ago that we have mice. Yuck. We have managed to catch one with traps. I have seen others since, but they are just not going near the traps. I have four set up. 1 under the stove, 1 beside the fridge, 1 along a wall I saw them walking on, and 1 in the laundry. They all have peanut butter. There is not food scraps that they are able to get to, so can only assume that they are here just for shelter. Is there anywhere else someone can suggest I put traps? Mice freak me out! I don't really want to poison them either as I don't want to find any dead mice laying around the house. Re: Mice 99Jun 19, 2011 10:19 am they won't run along open areas so along a wall is best. if there is a place you frequently see them coming from find a narrow section where they will run and place the trap along. Also check your cupboards. we found out that the small board sections that were placed by the cabinet maker at the end of cupboards where they are next to a wall were decorative more than anything and didn't have any base to them. This means there is a gap that you can feel behind them. A nice warm, cosy place for mice to hide. ewwwk. Re: Mice 100Jun 19, 2011 10:31 am There was one cupboard they get into, but have covered that hole up. I think there might be a hole behind the stove that they are coming from, but can't get behind there to check. They have got into the pantry, but haven't got up high enough to reach the food. I might put a trap on the floor in there. I saw one run from behind the TV unit, but there is no where there for them to come from there. Not sure why it would be back there, or where it would hide. I think I have maybe heard them in the roof and walls, but we haven't got a ladder to put traps in the roof space. I hate mice! |
