PM me if you want more details Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: CONCRETE FLOORS 9Jul 10, 2011 1:56 pm Now you are giving away ALL the secrets of our years of fun Trouble is someone is going to use it when is would be better not too.... ... or needing other preparatory works to get it to that point... But you a right I agree .. to build depth Tung Oil is good and wax ( the right one) is about the best barrier/finish less than going to the extent of polished concrete... again in my humble opinion (IMHO) only. Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: CONCRETE FLOORS 10Jul 10, 2011 5:52 pm An update on my progress, I have started a build thread, but I thought I'd jump in on this one too. We have decided to go with polished concrete and after a bit of bill shock are very happy with the decision. We are going with a white overlay concrete that will have heating in it, can't wait as we are renting a house with ducted heating and hate it. Our slab was laid on Thursday and the overlay wont be laid till the walls/frame is in place. The builder insists on leaving the slab to cure for 2 weeks before starting any work on it.... I think thats a bit excessive..what do you think onc?
Re: CONCRETE FLOORS 11Jul 10, 2011 7:29 pm I love polished concrete. I'm looking forward to seeing the pics Custom downslope build Build thread viewtopic.php?f=31&t=61873 Blog http://www.buildingroyalmanor.blogspot.com.au Re: CONCRETE FLOORS 12Jul 10, 2011 8:53 pm Very excessive... I wonder if they will bother about curing it at all or just leave it open. 3days and we are grinding. Then cover and cure during the building process... That'll aid cure and reduce a shirt load of cracks. Where you are coming from is where you are going to... Re: CONCRETE FLOORS 13Jul 11, 2011 1:15 am onc_artisan : I'd be suggesting carnauba wax ! PM me if you want more details Did I mention it was a concrete floor, not my car? We have been previously pointed to water based acrylic and told it can last for 10 years before needing to be recoated. This is very tempting! Any ideas about the rust coloured stains? Re: CONCRETE FLOORS 14Jul 11, 2011 1:23 am By the way, Steve at a big national hardware retailer suggested Phosphoric acid to clean the stains before sealing, but I'm worried it will affect the burnished finish as it's also used for etching concrete and glass. What do you think of that? Re: CONCRETE FLOORS 15Jul 11, 2011 9:43 am onc_artisan Very excessive... That'll aid cure and reduce a shirt load of cracks. The slab thats been laid isnt the finished product, we are having a 100mm white (ish) concrete laid on top after the frame is in place. We are going with mentone premix who have come highly recomended, fingers crossed I'll keep updating as we go. Re: CONCRETE FLOORS 17Jul 12, 2011 12:18 pm NZBuilder the thread is about finding a way for cold concrete floor. Why there are so non related responses? It's true, I didn't pay any attention to the details of the original post (but see my first paragraph). I'll justify my contributions based on the title only! Let's hope that this itself does not cause off topic discussions. Re: CONCRETE FLOORS 18Jul 12, 2011 12:23 pm tintac NZBuilder the thread is about finding a way for cold concrete floor.
