My two kids currently share a bedroom and they really love it. They don't want their own rooms - so good news for me!
Anyway, they are running out of space with desks, musical instruments etc making the room smaller and smaller. I'm toying with the idea of building (or getting done professionally) loft beds...don't really like the idea of getting bunks.
So what I am proposing is having a single 4m beam from one side of the room to the other. FYI all our walls, including internals are solid brick. It's an old Victorian home.
So is it possible to anchor the beam at both ends, and then have slats somehow attached also to the wall avoiding the need for any bracing to the ground in the middle? Ideally I would like to have the loft appear to be floating. We have really high ceilings so that won't be a problem.
Any advice greatly appreciated.
