There's the evacuated tube type made by Endless Summer. Apparently more efficient and reliable than flat panel systems, however cost is almost double. On their website, they mentioned that flat panel systems contains chemicals that degrade overtime and will eventually lose efficiency and need to be replaced. Just want to hear from people who has the flat panel type for a while to see what their experiences have been. Also, want to hear from people in colder parts of Australia (Vic / Tas) how well solar hot water works in winter. Does the sun provide enough heating to not need boosting? Any comment appreciated.
