I can’t see a thing. Hi Michelle, if you click on the photo it opens it in image shack as a big picture. I will try to see if I can make it bigger though, if that doesn't work. Cheers Re: ANYONE WITH QUESTIONS? 84Sep 26, 2007 5:21 pm bda20….Excellent choice with your external colour….Warm Neutral, one of my favourites!!!
Your gables inserts… I would suggest doing Dulux “Dune” the equivalent of colorbond. The Dulux Oboe D'amore is way to dark for the dune roof, and Warm Neutral render colour, it will stand and is far too dominating for the roof line. A rule in design and colour…if it isn’t attractive and you don’t want to see it, blend it in with the surrounding selections. Gable inserts….to me are not a design statement! Also if you are thinking of a feature colour in the front, you need to have THAT feature only, not another above it on the roof. It defeats the purpose of a feature wall. Your feature wall - Because you have chosen such a great neutral colour for your walls, also it has depth, better still! Just about any colour will go with the main walls. Since others in your street have used purple, stay right away from that colour. My suggestions- Dulux “Blueprint” a deep Blue/grey “Inner Space” a deep teal “Jungle Cloak” a deep Green/Grey “Plumberry” a deep plum, very nice!! Now it’s up to you to go and see the colours a paint store, remember these have been taken from my FAN DECK, so if they are not on display ask one of the staff. Good luck! By the way I click on the photo, and bingo it grew!!!! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: ANYONE WITH QUESTIONS? 85Sep 26, 2007 5:37 pm Wow - thanks so much for the advice Michelle. Now that we have to make a final decision I am getting very stressed about it. My husband felt the same as you about staying away from the purple, so we will definitely look at the other colours you have suggested.
Would you do the feature colour on the wall and the rendered posts in the entry or would this be too much? Sorry about the picture - I have been trying to post a bigger one, but I seem to only be able to post thumbnails. I have only just worked out how to do that! Re: ANYONE WITH QUESTIONS? 86Sep 26, 2007 5:46 pm bda20, I don’t see any posts? Where are they? I previewed them before I submitted the post, and deleted them when I realised it wasn't working. I need to read up on this photo posting business. Either way with the post, the feature colour or the wall colour….I personly would probably go the wall colour. Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: ANYONE WITH QUESTIONS? 91Sep 26, 2007 6:25 pm VJ...Let me see if I get this right, you have asked a lot of questions not sure if I will get them all.
First …..I just LOVE the home you are building, very classy!!! BRICKS – I would suggest the Hawthorn, they have more character! TOP FASCADE – Bristol “ Silver Skates” OR “Fortress” one light grey the other a darker grey , which will tie in with the roof tiles and brick. Now you have an option of using a feature colour in the front as well. This you can do after you move in if it is a problem for the builder’s budget. Want a hint for your internal colours…..use all the colours the display home has used!! You will not go wrong; it has been done very tastefully! In fact….I want this house as well! BENCHTOP – Mink….LOVE IT!!!! It will look stunning with your chosen floor tiles. Watch these tiles, when wet they will be VERY slippery! SPLASH BACK – Olive Green, very nice. ********************************************************** The remaining items that we haven't decided on are: - bricks (mortar off-white, flush) - Hawthorn - YES - aluminum window frames (side and rear of house) – MID GREY - gutter/fascia – Bristol – STORMY NIGHT if…..this matches the roof colour, try and kee the roof and gutter/fascias as close to each other in colour!!! - hardiplank (upper level of the house, from front to back) - Bristol “ Siler Skates” OR “Fortress” - internal wall (Bristol's Olivine) - Don’t have that colour in my broacher! ????? - skirtings and doors (normally builder uses same colour as wall but semi-gloss, but we can opt to change if we want) – FULL GLOSS!!!!! - ceiling (you mentioned somewhere that it's good to have semi-gloss paint for the ceiling? builder's standard is just flat) – CEILING FLAT for you! - cupboards – KITCHEN? – Laminex “ Paper Bark” or similar, it’s a neutral colour, you don’t want to pull attention away from the 3 main design elements ….bench top, splash backs and tiles! Have I got it all???!!! Whewww!!!!! Thank you so much! You've given us peace of mind! It's our colour selection tomorrow so we have to digest everything that you suggested here. We haven't been sleeping that much recently, as we are not yet sure of our selections. You're a saviour!!! Kudos to Michelle! We're going print your suggestions and bring with us during colour selection in order to guide us with our selection. Since we don't have the sample colours here.. we will only see them tomorrow, during our appointment. But we have more or less an idea of the colours that you've chosen for our house. For the gutter and fascia, since it's COLOURBOND, we have to check the nearest colour to your suggested STORMY NIGHT. It's great to know that you also liked our house! After more than a year of moving from one builder to another, finally we found this house and we know this is it! Again, thanks for the time & effort! We REALLY APPRECIATE it!!!!!!! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: ANYONE WITH QUESTIONS? 96Sep 26, 2007 8:47 pm VJ…..glade to help you!!
Good luck tomorrow, I hope it all goes smoothly for you! (((For the gutter and fascia, since it's COLOURBOND, we have to check the nearest colour to your suggested STORMY NIGHT.)) Sorry didn’t think of that!!! Colorbond “Ironstone” will be your best bet! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: ANYONE WITH QUESTIONS? 97Sep 27, 2007 5:30 pm Thanks so much for your suggestions Michelle. We are going with Inner space - I love that colour and it is very similar to the interior feature colour I have chosen, so it will flow really nicely. Our painter was happy with the choice too as he is a big fan of the colour too.
Your help is much appreciated! Re: ANYONE WITH QUESTIONS? 98Sep 27, 2007 5:34 pm Yeah…..painters have got like that…..makes me wounder why they call themselves painters.
Happy to help, I’m please you are happy. Good luck! Internal and External Building and Colour Consultant Online - Worldwide http://www.denovoconcepts.com Re: ANYONE WITH QUESTIONS? 99Sep 27, 2007 11:58 pm Finally done our colour selection!
More upgrades added... meaning, more money needed! Michelle, Since we were got hold of your suggested colours last night, we were able to really see the colour this morning. We got confused with the Stormy night gutter/fascia, which you changed to Colorbond "ironstone". The former was a dark green shade, while the latter was a bluish/greyish shade. Then when we checked the Bristol “ Silver Skates” OR “Fortress” for the upper level weatherboard/cladding, we realised it's all on the grey shade. So, we got confused whether your suggested colour scheme was grey/green (stormy night) or grey/blue (ironstone). We were discussing about it outside the builder's office, 30 minutes before our appointment time. Then... we panicked! haha! We thought we were ready for the colours. Because we were confused (with the external colours only, very confident with the internal ones) and due to time pressure, we went to our original choice of woodland grey shade for the aluminum windows, gutter and fascia. Found out that the Fortress has additional charge if used for render. We don't want to spend extra so we chose: weatherboard/cladding (upper level front facade) - cafe grey (still a shade of grey, but a tint of green, therefore still close to the terracotta vienna graphite roof tiles - yes, we changed our roof tile to a better one but same shade - dark grey, as it is required by the land developer) render (3 front posts of the house) - vellum smoke - next colour darker (but no extra charge) we don't know whether we selected the right colours for the house, as we didn't have the time to go to a paint store and have a look at your suggested colours first (but we would need to spend extra for the fortress) or even the ones that we chose today. i wonder if yo have a sample of those colours in your brochure so you could confirm if we chose the right combination. if you think your original choice is still better, we could still change it (and pay extra for the fortress). we should have a look this weekend of these colour to confirm, as we can still change it on Monday, during contract signing everything else were good... went for the MINK (again, category 2, so extra charge!) caesarstone benchtop for the kitchen, but MANGROVE for the powder, bath and ensuite (went for the category 1 so cheaper ). found out that the olive green splashback was Bristol Olive Grey on DIAMENT GLASS (clear one so true colour is reflected). cupboards were PEARL BISQUE in matt finish (neutral). internal wall would be OLIVINE and for the ceiling - WILLOW HERB. By the way, we chose the DARK OAK timber-look garage door and matched the finish of all timber front windows. Whew! That was a long update! Thanks for reading...... hope you didn't get bored and disappointed that we didn't go for the Fortress........ anyway, as i've said, we need to confirm the colours by going to a paint store this weekend. Cheers! ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Built the Nevada 42 Next project - landscaping! Re: ANYONE WITH QUESTIONS? 100Sep 28, 2007 9:22 am Hi Vj…..
Stormy Night yes….in the broacher with the sun on it is a greeny grey, it’s probably not good choosing colours at night in my office….but time was tight for you. Iron Stone, which is a blue/grey was the better bet, as it is a colorbond colour, which is what you needed. Against your grey roof tiles this blue/grey would take on the grey! Your colour scheme was based on greys….to complement the grey in the brick and the roof tiles. Stormy Night is a lot darker than the woodland grey so I guess it really depends on how dark your roof tiles are? It’s ALWAYS best to have time available before these meetings to confirm the colours first! The woodland grey will work….no problem there. Really sorry I confused you, also I was not working with a full set of colours, as I don’t have the Bristol fan deck…..Dulux, Taubmans & Wattyl I have not Bristol, so I was very limited for a colour selection for you. Sounds like you got it all sorted…..good experience for you. All the colours you have mentioned are not on my broacher…..which is why it is best to work from a fan deck! The colour you chose other than Fortress is probably better, as I said the fan decks are better!! Do your final colour check, sorry I can’t help anymore as I just don’t have them here! Good luck!
