Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 16, 2010 9:40 pm The builder of our our house ignored the specification for stainless steel angles to be used on the external rendered walls. He used cheap metal angles instead. They are now all corroding. Not surprisingly, this builder went bankrupt and so we have claimed on the building insurance. They have agreed to replace the angles but they have specified that they should be replaced with PVC angles. The original report that they commissioned recommended either plastic or Stainless Steel. Does anyone have any experience with the plastic versions? Are there any potential issues with them? There are about 40 angles to be replaced and some of them are on walls that are the full height of the building which is three stories. I am probably worrying about nothing but I simply have no idea about this. I suppose I should be grateful that the insurance company has agreed to do anything at all after some of the stories I have heard! thanks Sojo Re: PVC or Stainless Steel exterior wall angles?? 2Mar 17, 2010 10:35 am The only concern you would have would be on poorly manufactured PVC. It can discolour in the sun however considering they are rendered over, this will not be a problem. As with anything, poor installation can also be a problem so if you have the choice, get a reputable tradesperson to do the work.
