Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Mar 16, 2010 1:23 am Just preparing to move into our new house and the block next door has been marked out and scrapped - and the builder thought it okay to spray bright blue paint on our brick work to indicate where to line up the dig to. It wouldn't be so bad if it was on the side of the garage that will be between the houses and never seen again, but he sprayed on the front brick work that is visible from the road! I hope this is not an indication of what we will have to put up with for 6 months or so. Re: Thoughtless builder tagged our house. 3Mar 16, 2010 1:38 am Indeed! Unfortunately, they have yet to put up their builder's sign, so I don't know who to contact. I'm struggling to get done what needs to be done to move in, plus try to keep my work ticking over without having to start phoning developers to find out who owns the property next door in order to find out who the builder is. Hopefully, someone will be on site tomorrow while I'm there so I can have a 'little chat' with them. Re: Thoughtless builder tagged our house. 4Mar 16, 2010 7:05 am Ah yes, the builders next door..... They care absolutely nothing for your property, since you're not their customer.... We were constantly picking up rubbish from our front yard, which was bad enough, but the globs of mortar and bits of broken bricks dropped in our garden made me so mad.... I deliberately left the bed on the side boundary empty of plants for six months till the house was finished. And then there was the early morning weekend noise and the ongoing foul language. We had words once or twice. Good luck with your temporary neighbours - hopefully they'll be more considerate than ours were. Re: Thoughtless builder tagged our house. 6Mar 16, 2010 11:03 am ahh now this is why we have a driveway .. and then absolutely nothing but dirt and weeds on the neighbour side of it. We are on a corner so only 1 side to worry about.. and they havent even developed that bit of the estate yet.. road finishes out the front of house. Im sure the good times are yet to begin lol so rude ! some people have just no manners. I can only hope that seeing our builder has done about 40-50% of the houses in there.., they will build on the block next to us as well./. so Ill know who to call ! good luck! Re: Thoughtless builder tagged our house. 7Mar 19, 2010 5:29 pm A supervisor for the company preparing the plumbing under the slab talked to me today, so I now know which builder is building. He said that if they used the correct paint, it is not UV stabilised and will fade away, and suggested to leave it 6 weeks and call the company if it is not gone. (He also said that they sometimes grab the nearest paint if they don't have the correct one at hand.) I'm sure he was trying to be helpful, but a splodge of bright blue on the front when we are working our butts off to be able to move into our brand new house! They also wanted to dig right up to our driveway that was being concreted as he spoke. Fortunately our concreters said that they wouldn't be able to finish their work if he did and he agreed to come back later next week and finish by hand. Kek, I hope there won't be the early Saturday morning starts that you had to endure, and I'll be very annoyed if the language is not appropriate for our youngest boy. [Jaded], enjoy the peace and quiet while you can. Just think of what you have to look forward to someday. Thanks also to you all for supportive, understanding comments.
