Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 27, 2010 10:21 am We have a fridge with a water dispenser, but not the kind that is connected to a tap, instead it is the one you have to fill up manually The water container is plastic and almost three years later the water that comes out of it still smells... like plastic. I have decided that I'm sick of it and am now thinking of installing an undersink water filter & chiller in our new house. Does anyone have an undersink water filter & chiller, and if so what has your experience been like? Or would it just be cheaper to upgrade our fridge to one of those that is connected to the tap... Re: Undersink water filter & chillers 2Feb 27, 2010 10:24 am I like the look of Zip HydroTap Chilled-Only Model (http://zipindustries.com/public/product ... -only.aspx) but have a feeling that it would be expensive not only to buy and install but the running and maintenance costs. Re: Undersink water filter & chillers 3Feb 28, 2010 2:27 pm If you have a camping or caravan store near you, go in and ask about treatments for water tanks. Caravans and camper trailers use plastic water tanks and often the water tastes or smells of plastic initially. These treatments flush the smell and taste out of the tank. You may need to re-treat every 12 months or so, but my camper tank is still tasting ok after ~2 years and only the initial treatment. Re: Undersink water filter & chillers 5Mar 01, 2010 11:17 am I have got one of these units, and they are great for the modern clutterless kitchens. They dont really cost that much to run because the units are sealed and dont loose much heat. I only have the Hotwater and ambiet water as i figured if i want cilled water I will just fill it up from a jug and place it in the fridge. This certainly doesn't look good. I would be engaging with an independent inspector to have a look at this. As for the unscheduled site visits, most builders are quite… 1 28599 thanks Chippy, i hope they have applied sealer but i am doubt to be honest, so i am gonna do this job after handover. 8 16606 If you can calculate the reasonable charged head from let's say 100mm below the gutter to the top of where the vertical riser's horizontal discharge pipe will be, that… 11 17740 |
