Well over priced however I don't know what the standard rates are. Re: Cost of a false ceiling…. That can’t be right?? 4Feb 19, 2010 10:31 pm To drop a flush ceiling on a Rondo furring channel system shouldn't cost you much more than $80 per sqm at the outside finished , depending on what drop and what anchors(under concrete) you may need, materials for the suspension system shouldn't be more than $15 per sqm, add $45 per sqm for the Gyprock and labor tops Re: Cost of a false ceiling…. That can’t be right?? 6Feb 21, 2010 11:23 am Hi Nic_s, Rough cost prices of the Rondo system ie top rails @1200 centres, furring channels@600 centres should be about $2.50 plm for these items then you have rods, clips, anchors etc--maybe another $300 tops. The Gyprock alone is about $5.50psqm, if you allow around $12psqm cost (cornice, glue, screws plaster etc), that should cover it. Then the labour on top (easy bottom floor access) lets say $5k tops (not too sure about Sydney prices??). I would recommend going to a local ceiling company outlet with your plans, they will give you the quantities and they probably will have their own contractors or names of subbies they recommend, you should be able to get a total price from them, most of these outlets CSR, Boral, etc.,are usually pretty competitive. Does anybody have an idea of the cost of labour for an additional layer of plasterboard on the ceiling? I'm putting a new floor in my kitchen, slate flagging on a standard concrete slab.
