Like Jodie said, some did apply depreciation, not too many though. The best thing about GIO is the underinsurance protection they offer - it was the biggest attractor for us. Actually, some had lots of little things. Like the fact we were going to be doing painting and flooring after handover was classed as a renovation with a couple of policies I read (every insurance defines renovation slightly differently) and said that they wouldn't cover theft of the materials or malicious damage using them such as using the paint to cause damage.
