Browse Forums General Discussion Re: Show me photos of your walk in robe?? 21Feb 10, 2010 8:53 am As others have said you need to sit and think who is using the WIR and what do they need to store? DH's side comprises of trouser hanger, half hanging spaces x 4, drawers (smaller sized then mine), shoe shelf plus the open cabinet for baseball caps. My side is made up of 1 x long hanging space for dresses, 3 x half hanging space, narrow drawers and shelves for lingerie, handbags and costume jewellery, larger drawers for everyday underwear, pyjamas and shoes. There is also a shelf at the top of all the units - you can only see it is some of the photos since the units almost go to our ceilings. These are for storing winter items at present - will obviously move them down come time. As well as this we also have in our bedroom a large 6 drawer dresser plus a 2m built in robe which has been utilised as a linen cupboard for our sheets and towels for the main ensuite. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Show me photos of your walk in robe?? 22Feb 10, 2010 12:16 pm That looks great, Kyton. How have you guys utilised corner space in WIRs? Mine is pretty small at 1.5 deep and 2.1 wide. It occurs to me now that having the entrance on the wider size means I've lost hanging space so I'm trying to salvage every inch. It's an open 'U' Shape. Edit: Bad diagram didn't work Just imagine a 'U' that is wider than it is longer with the entrance on one of the wide sides and no door. Any ideas how to use the corners or suggestions how to set up the whole thing? You generally have more flexibility with drawer and shelf compartment widths in a WIR too, as there are no doors to work around, so a custom fitout that really suits can be easier to achieve. WIRs are also good if one of you gets up a lot earlier than the other - you can close the door and turn on the light while getting dressed, rather than fumbling round in the dark (or waking your grumpy partner with blazing light at some ungodly hour ). I think the only downside to WIRs is the space they require, but you can configure them in many ways so they'll fit into a square or a rectangle or even an odd shape, and make use of whatever space you have. I'd actually like a WIR the size of a minor bedroom....
