Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Feb 09, 2010 8:57 am G'day I'm wanting to check out your walk in robe & get a few ideas. Our cabinet maker has drawn up something pretty basic which would serve the purpose but still interested in checking out others before the final decision. I walk into the walk in robe & then a doorway to the right leads off into the ensuite. thanks in advance Jazz Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Show me photos of your walk in robe?? 2Feb 09, 2010 9:20 am Mine is more of a walk through, its behind a feature wall in our bedroom that the bed will go against. Its 5 metre long and leads into the ensuite. I chose this because Ive had a full WIR before and felt too enclosed surrounded by clothes and clutter. There is a mirror on the wall at one end. This was just a pic of the floorboards but you get the idea. Re: Show me photos of your walk in robe?? 3Feb 09, 2010 9:30 am Ohhhh great thread and I would post mine but it's not built yet Jazzie seems like mine will be similar to yours....I walk in and on the right is my ensuite, I can't wait to get the cabinet maker to do our design (I have so many ideas and always thinking about where everything will go hehe). BTW will you be tiling your walk in or will it be having carpet. Im thinking of making it a separate identity to the room, therefore tiling it the same tiles as the ensuite and making it like one whole area, otherwise I can carpet the WIR and make it seem a part of the 'room'. So many decisions. DA approved Waiting on a few more Builder's quotes. Re: Show me photos of your walk in robe?? 4Feb 09, 2010 9:40 am Ours is a little different from most. Our main bedroom has a small hallway which connects the bedroom to the ensuite and the WIR is a separate room in between. This room is directly opposite the actual bedroom doorway into the main hallway so I wanted the cupboards to be all enclosed - as I cannot stand seeing the clothes all hanging from the doorway. The room itself is around 3m by 3.2m and the units go the whole way around the room's perimeter. One half of the room is DH's and the other is mine. We have different internal components within the units to suit our needs - ie DH has one of those slideout pant hangers whilst I have lots of drawers. The open unit is waiting on the shelves to be cut to size - this will house DH's baseball cap collection. Um Seeing as we're doing a rebuild & left the original kauri pine floorboards in the 3 bedrooms, the builder suggested we put carpet in the w.i.r. rather than put new flooring in there BUT seeing as the new rebuild won't be having carpet at all, we're going to tile in the w.i.r. with the same BIG charcoal colour tiles I've chosen for the ensuite (big charcoal tiles with white 'brick' tiles ) that's my choice so far.... but then again I may duck to a showroom to check out other colour schemes before I order the tiles As you said, so many ideas, so many choices What colour are you thinking of ?? any great ideas you wish to share?? come on, I won't tell anyone Jazz Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Show me photos of your walk in robe?? 14Feb 09, 2010 5:33 pm Jazzie you're so organised with your shoe boxes Southies yes........you can now see my obsession ......just as well I didn't take a pic of my handbags Built the Eden Brae Cambridge 34 Family with Boston Corner Facade Re: Show me photos of your walk in robe?? 15Feb 09, 2010 5:42 pm I haven't done our robes yet, but I've been collecting lots of ideas. Re: Show me photos of your walk in robe?? 17Feb 09, 2010 8:18 pm LOVE the highcraft solutions site Kek I was all enthused when I spoke to the builder before but he's trying to 'play it down' a bit & making me feel the w.i.r. isn't really that big a deal Well it is to me so with my new found information I'll be giving him my instructions & he better just humour me & do what I say That's the crap you have to put up with when related to the builder thanks again - great feedback from everyone Jazz Life is like a lolly, suck it and see Re: Show me photos of your walk in robe?? 18Feb 09, 2010 8:50 pm kek I haven't done our robes yet, but I've been collecting lots of ideas.
