Our home is in need of a new kitchen, bathroom and some general refurbishment. Not being experienced, I went to Harvey Norman Renovations, the sales consultant indicated the company is a one stop shop that will design, quote, project manage and finance the job. Part of a public listed australian company, able to competitively access a wide range of appliances, fittings and building materials, been in the business for years, etc, etc, was the sales pitch. FREE Design services was offered, the designed would come to our home, take measurements, work with us on selection of appliances and fittings, if we were happy we would need to pay a deposit. 1st concern - Designer would not give the copy of the design or quote without a deposit ($$thousands$$). Was told they would accomodate changes up until the design has been finalised and order processed. (Big company trust us). OK Deposit paid! 2nd concern - A photocopy of a hand drawn design, with a barely ledgible job sheet was provided. 3rd Concern, we requested a change. ONE complete job module (20%) of the job cost was deleted. We were then charged for re-stocking items that were never ordered, additional charges appeared, the adjustment was around 5%. NO checking - NO Negotiation - If I did not agree to this by early November, the job will not be completed in 2006! - I signed off the changes. They did not finalise the project in November, so the job was not scheduled. At the time I may have been prepared to pay ++$$++ to get a job completed. Now I am asking for a bill of materials, description of services and appliance & fitting costs. Also to meet with the assigned project manager such that I have a feeling of comfort the job will get done. The designer escallated this to the General Manager, who told me that that was not policy, they would not oblidge. " Frankly HNR do not want the job" was the finalising comment. I was asked to make an application to have my deposit refunded. I did this, they then advised, they had incurred thousands of dollars in costs and I would have to pay them to terminate the contract. No work has started, no items have been ordered, I have some photocoppied sketches and scrawls on a contract. Out of pocket for thousands of dollars. Any advice on how I can progress this would be appreciated. yes it does, you've just not understood it. theres a difference. 4 5206 You talk about deletions, are they variations or PS and PC adjustments? pleas list them 1 16455 Been in a similar position and we decided to let the builder go. Some of the PSA money goes to engineering so we at least got those documents and they actually refunded us… 2 6014 |
