Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 20, 2010 9:33 am Recently had sloping floor put in shower stall it was tiled and looks nice except the grout keeps coming out in the centre of the shower area. The tiler has been back a few times to re-grout but the grout falls out after a few days, He seems to think there is some flex in the floor causing this. Cant a flexible form of grout or colored silicon be put in instead of the normal grout? I want to get this fixed before it becomes a bigger problem any suggestions before i talk to the tiler again Re: shower floor grout problems 2Jan 20, 2010 9:51 am Yes, probably a polyurethane jointing sealer to do the trick. Re: shower floor grout problems 4Jan 20, 2010 12:53 pm Thanks for the info, I spoke to the tiler and hes coming to grind out all the grout and put some of this in he didnt mention it before though. I think he was afraid he would have to pay for it if I didnt mention it first. I dont mind paying just need it fixed. The builder laid the new floor in the bathroom and put the hardi board stuff down and the tiler tiled over it. The tiler is saying the sheeting probably wasnt nailed to spec, which I would have thought he may have mentioned before he put the tiles down. Im just hoping this fixes the problem as the alternative would be very costly I reckon. Re: shower floor grout problems 5Jan 22, 2010 3:39 pm The additive does very little. Is it actual around the waste pipe? The tiles will be on a sand and cement sceed and the tiles glued to them. If you had so much flex it would have cracked the screed and possible waterproofing problems. How big are the joints - width? Also tap the tiles around where the grout is coming away...do they sound drummy? Cheers Charlie Have had a few issues with out recently done bathroom floor. Tomorrow I might check if I can get a few packs of 300x300 in the same tile finish. It may be good to use these could in the shower recesses. I'm not… 4 4671 Thanks splashers, that makes sense.
