Do u think they are ' old fashioned" and not match in a " modern" house ? http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp108/nottch/DSCN4996.jpg http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp108/nottch/DSCN4995.jpg http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp108/nottch/DSCN4994.jpg http://i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp108/nottch/DSCN4993.jpg Thanks v much. Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 2Jan 16, 2010 5:21 pm I think they are nice pictures. Don't see why you couldn't put them up in a "modern" home. Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Plus a shell of a house with stuff inside ! Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 3Jan 16, 2010 5:34 pm Seeing as you are asking based on them going into a "modern" home, and everyones take on modern is sometimes different but the pics themselves might look more modern if 1. square the matting inside. 2. make it double matting....1 x brown and 1 x white.... to go with the trees 3. Change the frame to either a nice natural wood look frame or something that will go with your colours like decor etc. If you love them you can make them work regardless Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 4Jan 16, 2010 5:48 pm it's not about the picture, it's the frame! update the frames, no worries! Square up the matting if you can and put them in a dark thick frame and they will look great. Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 6Jan 16, 2010 8:42 pm First impression?...honest?...my mum would love them...'nuff said. mmm....donuts Homer Simpson 1956- Links: Site Costs Ready Reckoner | H1 Addiction Medical Advice | Château TDL: The Backyard Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 7Jan 16, 2010 9:08 pm Hey Nott, depends on the rest of the decor in your home. The shape of the cut out in the matt... being circles, to me gives it an asian feel. Might suit your house... but I haven't seen your furniture for a while, I cant remember I think they're very nice, depends if you want to modern up your interior a bit more, or keep it a little asian contemporary... (did I just make up a new look? Asian contemporary?) Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 8Jan 16, 2010 9:20 pm hi TDL, no worries to be honest. then, shall i say ur mum's taste is gd or i'm getting old hi erin, my home was very blank, now things improved a tiny bit however, we still haven't figured a sofa WE agreed both!? patient! And a halltable, ......... u know, i just browsed PD a while ago, and probably saw " Asian contemporary" in the style finder. Suddenly think why the designers don't invent sth like Modern Colonial ? Have u move in to KG already? Our uncle lived there for many years and I have been there once, really a gd place for shouting and yellling without neighbours' interruption ? Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 9Jan 16, 2010 9:26 pm I think they look old-fashioned at first impression, but as suggested by others there are ways to modernise them to suit a contemporary decor The salmon pink frames are really letting them down. As other posters have noted, the matt/frame is the wrong shape and colour. Also, if you do decide to go ahead and change them, make sure they are not too high on the wall beacuse that will look daggy and dated. There are many articles on the net and in decorating blogs that explain how you should group pictures together. Mrs B Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 11Jan 17, 2010 7:26 am thanks mrs B and PK. yes, when i read those interior magazines, seem so many are using trees as a decor. The salmon matt looks quite like those faded pictures caused by UV. Maybe i need to try it on the computer to see what colour to change. However, changing the circle matt to a rectangle/ square one seems " losing" quite a lot of portion of the pic? thanks Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 12Jan 17, 2010 8:27 am They don't seem modern to me either, but I think with an updated frame they would be ok. I have a similar situation, my late grandmother painted us all a picture before she died. Mine is a lovely black and white sketch but the frame is very dated (I got it about 20 years ago), so I'm going to get it reframed in black, as I think it will be nice to have it hanging in the new house as it has sentimental value, but I still want it to fit into my overall modern style. If you took them to a framing shop, they would probably be able to give you some more ideas. There may be more picture under the circle matt. Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 15Jan 17, 2010 12:57 pm without reviewing other posts, my impression is Old, like very old. Maybe something from the 1930's? Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 16Jan 17, 2010 1:08 pm I agree completely on the circular mat being a bit yuk.... but I think the colour dates it more than anything. That pinky/peachy colour just screams early 90s. I still have nightmares about my old peach cushions/walls/tiles.... I like the pictures themselves - they're going to look great framed in a more modern style. Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 17Jan 17, 2010 1:22 pm kek I still have nightmares about my old peach cushions/walls/tiles.... I currently rent a unit with peach carpet, peach walls, peach cream tiles in the entrance, exposed peach bricks in the kitchen, cream/salmon tiles in the bathroom, and cream/salmon plastic tapwear I'm all peached out Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 18Jan 17, 2010 3:29 pm well if in any doubt you could work out when it was built or at least last remodeled. We had the apricot disease in our last house.Kitchen laminates, ensuite cupboard and taps , verticals in the games room, deep apricot/peach blind in the kitchen etc etc. So nice not to be looking at apricot colours and exposed brick features. Though I did keep some outdated features for the new house. Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 19Jan 17, 2010 3:38 pm I like the pics. I think the peach pink is the main thing that dates them. I'd be worried that the colour under the matte wouldn't look quite the same so a replacement square matte wouldn't work (but I quite like the round anyway). Re: What's your first impression on these pictures? 20Jan 17, 2010 4:01 pm If you can;t replace the round frame I would cut the frame down to go directly around the white section cutting out the peach altogether or replacing it with a very narrow border of something else. Perhaps something less80/90's in colour. quick 'n dirty single frame version the white looks grey because of the way i did it. But this is a possibility Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I was thinking more of another colour and then a black frame or a colour that is from the pictures but after seeing that last shot i did this as well. Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ I think it's because of the grey tone that the white round paper frame has taken on that this looks ok. BUT in real life i don't think the grey and the black would work. But something else might. Go see a picture framer and gets some ideas and suggestions. Michelle would be a good person to ask about colour combinations. Of course it all depends on your home furnishing/ paint colours too. Regardless of wall hung toilet or floor pan toilet your feet will be right on drain, seems to me the waste should not be in that location given the design. Also are you… 6 7084 |
