Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Jan 14, 2010 12:29 am Hi All, I'm new to the forum and currently shopping around for a house. Looking forward to joining in on some of the discussions around here! One particular design of house has caught my eye. I have attached pictures. Just curious if anyone can confirm - is this a Henley home? If so, do you have any ideas as to the model / design - etc? I would like to be able to do a little bit of research on them and gather some specifications. Any info would be appreciated! Cheers! Re: Is this a Henley Home!? If so - do you know any further info 3Jan 14, 2010 7:10 am Very much like the rental house we live in that was built about 10 or 12 years ago. The thermal design is very poor and we swelter in the warmer weather. So looking forward to the new house with real air conditioning and decent thermal design! Good luck. Pfiff Finally making progress again, with a clothesline (yippee) and some much needed little things being attended to over the holidays. 40 C on New Year's eve? We love our a/c! Re: Is this a Henley Home!? If so - do you know any further info 5Jan 14, 2010 8:24 am I'd say it possibly could be a Henley home from about 10 years ago. Especially judging by the decor in the kitchen and bathrooms. My BIL and SIL built with them in this era and their bathroom design is quite similar. I do remember quite a few Henley homes that looked 'like' this with the garage seperate from the main house, not built 'in' as they seem to do these days. Also the rounded stair case is very Henley as that is a feature of my house today. Mine is the Wilshire which has been around for about 10 years in various incarnations. I do have some older 'Home' magazines found in the Herald Sun from this era, but I am currently not at home to go searching through them all. Are you in VIC/MELB? The suburb this house is in could also give an indication of it's age/era especially if it's in an estate, not an established area. Do you have a floorplan as that could help too? Don't forget that just because it doesn't look like a typical Henley home doesn't mean it isn't! Mine doesn't really, yet it is!! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! Re: Is this a Henley Home!? If so - do you know any further info 6Jan 14, 2010 8:29 am I thought the same as Stormy ....it's not a brand new home, and it's pretty typical of the style that was popular among project home builders 10-15 years ago. My old suburb is full of houses just like it. Could be a Henley, could be some other builder. The selling agent would know. If it's a well-regarded builder, they usually use that as a selling point. Home in question: Mine: Like ⋅ Add a comment ⋅ Pin to Ideaboard ⋅ The more I look at the bathrooms and kitchen the more it looks like my BIL and SIL's home. The dark benches and woodgrain finish, the wrapover bench in the bathrooms and the tapware, all about 10ish years old and typical of display homes that era. Very possibly Henley with the staircase, but could also easily be M3tr!con with the double storey void above the entrance. I'm not too familiar with M3tr!con homes of that era...not even sure if they were around. My thoughts are you are looking at a very early incarnation of the Wilshire, but possibly with a different name. Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! If so - do you know any further info 8Jan 14, 2010 11:38 am Thanks everyone for your quick replies and info! This house is in the established hills district in Sydney. Approx age is around 11 years. I dont have a floor plan of this particular house. The real estate agent was pretty sure it was a henley, however just wanted to do some research on the design to see if i could gather any specs (but there doesnt appear to be much info on the net about the older henleys.) Stormy - those staircases are very similar! There is another house i have seen which has what appears to be a very similar same internal layout - etc. Here is the link - http://www.realestate.com.au/cgi-bin/rs ... 1263432391 Also, have noticed that some of the older clarendons look very similar from the outside - http://www.homehound.com.au/listing/?id=9094576 - so wasnt sure if it was possibly even an older clarendon?? Thanks again to everyone! Re: Is this a Henley Home!? If so - do you know any further info 9Jan 14, 2010 12:16 pm Hi coco, I'm not sure when Henley were building in Sydney and whether their floorplans were the same as the VIC homes (they do differ slightly in SA and QLD), but if the Real Estate agent seems to think it is, then it possibly is. I'd be ringing up the agent of the second home you linked to and asking them if they have a floorplan and who the builder is...it looks pretty much the same to me! Good luck!! If so - do you know any further info 12Jan 14, 2010 7:34 pm I'm looking out the window to the house directly opposite me and the facades are indentical - right down to the windows, entry portico and roof/gutter details. This one is a Henly home about 6 years old. Doesn't mean they are the same design but from the front they are indentical so I'd say chances are its a Henley design. Yeah, i guess we will see how it goes, but we will most likely be flicking them over - just hanging for it to be done, over the rental now haha!
