Browse Forums General Discussion Re: How much are your energy bills per year? 2Jul 27, 2007 5:44 pm Good question!
I'm judging it off our previous rental as we've only been in this one for about 2 months (not a good indication), but Electricity was anywhere from $200 -$300 per quarter, and gas was normally around $150 every 2 months. If our house ends up being no more expensive to run (1940's draughty, old heater, bad ventilation, etc compared with a new 5*, almost double the size house) I'd be fairly happy. If it is cheaper I'd be over the moon (and going shopping on the difference!). Total - about $1800 per year. Ray. Second Time 'Round Re: How much are your energy bills per year? 3Jul 27, 2007 5:46 pm About $300 per quarter.. maybe a tad less.
So I put $1000 per year. Re: How much are your energy bills per year? 4Jul 27, 2007 5:55 pm $230 per quarter - but we only live in an apartment (3 bedroom) Re: How much are your energy bills per year? 5Jul 27, 2007 6:14 pm I selected the last option....
They are bills...they come....you pay them....it happens again 30 days later. I have no idea what it will / would cost but I am sure it is far too much! Re: How much are your energy bills per year? 6Jul 27, 2007 7:58 pm the bills come, i pay!

I ticked $500 per year, thinking it was $500 per quarter. That'll confuse the statisticians.
We had a dead solar hot water system that was running only on the electric booster. And a spa. And inefficient portable electric heating. That explains the high bills. and capable of stampeding the next generation being the eco-miser of the family I manage to get $40-80 2 monthly bills in summer and max of approx $250 for winter. perhaps averaging to annual expense of 800-1000. This is for a 60s home with manual central heating, wooden floorwith no underfloor insulation. Hoping to maintain the rate for the next house.. sarking, whirly, concrete slab curtains etc will help. Re: How much are your energy bills per year? 12Jul 31, 2007 9:36 am It would perhaps be better to equate use to household size, structure and the area of the house.
With 2 young children in a 3 bedroom house, I use more than if I was living alone in a 1 bed apartment. Also depends where you live, extreem climates require more heating/cooling. Lots of important variables not taken into account here. 1) I had requested R6 ceiling insualtion batts, however I noticed that on some areas there are huge gaps which will allow hot air to sweep in, and also noticed black/grey… 0 3603 Your house roof does not show rusting other than some surface rust on the flashings.
