For external doors like laundry, garage rear and entry, these must also be sealed? Mostly they never are because it is too much work to remove them and reinstall. Of course, good old fashioned self respecting carpenters would seal the bottom before hanging as it is 100 times easier to do it then as opposed to leaving it to later! Builders are people too.... I have a picture of our front door for you to see (i can not put the picture up until hubby gets home because i do not know how to use my daughters camera) We have to replace it for this exact problem, lazy builders cut corners, they hang the doors and then paint them. This house is 8 years old and we only just bought it in October so the door will be replaced soon, when all of the other jobs are done. I mean it is not going to cost much for us to get another door but geez it is annoying, one more thing to do on the list of many. I hate the door anyway, so good excuse to get a nicer one. It has swollen so much that the weather strip is just hanging on by a thread. There is nothing in the various codes and standards that puts this requirement on the builder to do.
