THey deserve the holiday just ike everyone else, but it is frustrating isn't it? Especially when you are just getting started. We are at the other end and missed out by about 3 or so weeks on getting keys before Xmas. So we driveby and see a locked up house at about 99% completion. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Anyone else hating this no-building week?? 3Dec 31, 2009 10:48 am On behalf of all tradies..I'm sorry our down time has stopped you from building .. ..besides all the suppliers are closed so unless..... you have some sort of magical concret mixer it isn't goign to happen anyways Kodiak Data Cabling onFaceBook Consult*, Design and Installation Data, TV, Home Theatre/ AV Cabling, Multi Room Audio, IP CCTV and Door Intercoms Ask for a Quote. *DIY DATA Cabling Is Ilegal Re: Anyone else hating this no-building week?? 4Dec 31, 2009 10:51 am I'm the same Still driving by everyday in the hope that i may find the door open and the kitchen being built!! hehehe Its just that time of year, where every man and his dog shuts up shop!! Some of MY customers expect me to work through also and I don't have any other break at all through the year. So I know where you are coming from. It's just our own frustration we are talking about, not the fact that the tradies are having a break. Don't want to sound nasty or anything of the sort, so just to make that clear. I would rather fresh, revived and rearing to go tradies when things resume, than them being worn out and not interested. Same goes for myself. www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Anyone else hating this no-building week?? 6Dec 31, 2009 11:42 am themax I would rather fresh, revived and rearing to go tradies when things resume, than them being worn out and not interested. Ummm... dunno how "refreshed, revived and rearing to go" the tradies will be after the silly season... i'm already hearing stories from the tradies/contractors who we use about what they've been getting up to!!! viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Re: Anyone else hating this no-building week?? 14Dec 31, 2009 12:16 pm Maybe it depends on the company or whether tradies have put their hands up saying they're able to work over the break? There's a build going on near me, its duplex units (looking rather nice if I may say so!), however i've seen brickies there working away nearly every day (except the public holidays LOL) viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! Re: Anyone else hating this no-building week?? 15Dec 31, 2009 12:26 pm Our painter has been at our house painting away everyday except chrissy day and his doing an excellent job as his been able to take his time and we'v been able to go inside and have a look whenever we want!!! We are also one of the people who were on;y about 2 weeks away from having our keys before christmas Re: Anyone else hating this no-building week?? 16Dec 31, 2009 12:38 pm Pugs, settle, settle. I can understand that you may be a little annoyed but I believe that it was meant in the context of..... WE can't get in to do anything, because we are not allowed to be on site. (or I would be using the time to landscape my backyard ) The workers are on holidays (fair enough) as stated. The people just starting their builds such as cazoraz are excited and want to get going on it. The people such as myself who about to FINISH their builds want to get packing and into our new homes. It has already been explained to you by myself, that I don't believe that caz meant any malice by her comment, nor did I. I think that this should be an adequate comment on this topic RE THE TRADIES. It is not about the TRADIES, it is about the frustration as a home builder, myself INCLUDED and you may also include me in the TRADIES group, as I mentioned, that we have encountered this annual break period. The same would be said if there was 3 weeks of rain and work was halted or similar. We would not be building at all without Tradies. They ARE the build. So, that being said, we can continue the topic as it was meant to be without any more anxst. edit- typo www.themaxbuild.blogspot.com forum.homeone.com.au/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=20717&start=300 www.leahspaperpassion.blogspot.com Re: Anyone else hating this no-building week?? 17Dec 31, 2009 1:24 pm Well, I'm loving it! No noise from the builds going on around us.... I'm on holidays too and the last thing I want is to have to listen to is the thunka-thunka-thunka of the rock breaking machines or the ka-POW!! of the nail guns all day while I'm ****** around, drink in hand.... Hang on, that must be somebody else's life I was dreaming about. I'm sitting here at the computer, still working with my online clients. *sigh* Re: Anyone else hating this no-building week?? 18Dec 31, 2009 1:26 pm While we're not building per se, our approval from the developer came back on Christmas Eve, but because our builder is on holiday until next week, we couldn't submit to council until they get back.
