All houses come with a facade standard and usually they include the cheapest...once you starting adding things like "pickle's" or extra cheese then this is where it'll cost you more. Most display homes usually have all the upgrades included which can be deceiving as you think you are getting that home for X amount of money. Make sure you know what's supposed to be in your burger whilst getting quotes. LOL .. thanks for the info Dollar Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 25Mar 26, 2010 11:08 am I'm sure it'll look awesome Rizzo. Do you have a pic of the facade you have chosen? Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 26Mar 26, 2010 11:18 am We just have so many different colours/texture, which is what I'm worried about. Roof, gutter and fascia are woodland grey render is dune half strength window frames are black portico is limestone cladding (also that little wall that sticks out next to the portico on the right where the little window is) Front door and garage and ceiling in the portico are cedar then you have the driveway and path which will be aggregate (not sure which one yet) Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 27Mar 26, 2010 11:29 am Here is a better picture, i just put the link in as it's quite big http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2788/446 ... 4293_o.jpg Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 28Mar 26, 2010 11:37 am Honestly Rizzo I am sure it'll be fine. Did you get the idea of different textures from a display/magazine? This is our facade. Certainly not the norm and quite different with the use of various bricks, tones and textures. We at first were undecided about it....either you love it or hate it. At first before we saw it in flesh we loved the idea of something different and then we weren't sure. It isn't finished yet but I love it now and can't wait until it's finished. We too are also having aggregate....colour not sure and this is going to add another dimension to the house. Go for something different. I get bored of bland colour tones and house facades. Here is ours. Yours at least may be different in textures but at least you don't see it everywhere. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 30Mar 26, 2010 11:39 am The garage steps out further than what the photo depicts. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 31Mar 26, 2010 12:07 pm Dollar, I LOVE your facade. I love things different, it definately has a wow factor to it. Yeh, the window thing was stressing me a bit, but they have been ordered and are on site. The barge board (I think that's what it is called) over the portico will be black as well. I was going to do black fascias to tie it in, but I have looked around and seen a few houses with the woodland grey like ours and then the black windows and they look fine. My DH really wants dark aggregate, so I'm thinking a salt and pepper mix and that will tie it in, but then I'm not sure how that will look with the limestone, so that's why we are waiting to see what it looks like first. This did all go through the Interior designer before we signed off, and she thinks it will look great, but oh well, I guess we will just have to wait and see Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 32Mar 26, 2010 12:16 pm Thanks Rizzo. I'm sure your home will look great. I have seen black windows and woodland grey roof and it does look good. Black is also good for capturing views when you look outside the window. I'm not sure what aggregate we are getting. Need to have another close look. Remember also....gardens is what also makes a home. So even bad looking old homes with really nice gardens can actually do the house so much justice. Good luck with the build. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 33Mar 26, 2010 1:19 pm I worried that we'd have too much going on when I thought about all the colours and materials, but it turned out fine. We have: Dark grey roof tiles Colorbond Ironstone spouting, fascias, front door, garage door (pus letterbox and plant pots) Harvest Malt bricks (beigey colour) Stained timber window and door frames Aubergine render CB Paperbark weatherboards Merbau decking Light coloured gravel Charcoal concrete pavers Darkest grey exposed agg driveway That's ten separate colours or materials..... yet somehow it all works. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 34Mar 26, 2010 1:43 pm Oh Kek, I love your facade, and it all works so perfectly. I think I keep hearing you should only have a max of 3 colours and I keep stressing, but yet I have seen so many stunning houses that have a lot of different elements and it works really well too. Just can't win! Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 36Mar 26, 2010 11:20 pm Kek's facade is awesome and when you lay it out in writing Kek you think alot is going on. I think it's good to take risks as well and go for something different. We have 3 different bricks, different textures too...one is a smooth face brick plus pillar for portico will be done in another material. Somehow it has all come along and I have even heard about people talking about our house to other people that we don't even know/or even met before and they talk about our "cool" house. lol. I'm getting exciting about the facade now and don't care about what other people may think. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 37Mar 26, 2010 11:21 pm tempura is there any software or some sort of visualization thing, just to enable us to visualize better when we choose combination of things and see how its look. I used a MAC program which allows you to design in 3D although it is limited to the textures etc and colours aren't dulux etc. I know Metricon has the visualiser too both internal and external but options are limited. I love something a bit different... how nice it must be to hear your house talked about like that. And thanks for the compliment. I suppose we minimised the chance of overdoing things by keeping a few things similar By going for the dark greys in driveway and pavers, plus painting the letterbox and pots to match the garage and front doors, we had a grey thing going on. And the decking compliments the timber window frames, which really are a feature of our house. Then the render is the WOW feature, while the bricks and weatherboards kind of just become neutral background stuff. It's a bit nerve-wracking, waiting to see it in real life though. And the amount of worry you can have over a tiny detail.... Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 39Mar 27, 2010 4:39 pm I'm a little bit over all the colour selections.
