Browse Forums General Discussion 1 Dec 15, 2009 8:31 pm I was wanting to know what people's emotions/thoughts were when they finally saw there facade completed. Did you jump for joy in happiness or cringe and cry at the sight of it.....or something else? I'm in 2 states at the moment. Ours isn't completed. 1/2 of me says I love it and the other-not so sure yet. I guess it's hard to really decide as it is not completed and the bricks are still dirty. I'd be interested to know what people's thoughts were. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 2Dec 15, 2009 8:41 pm Hehehe ours is rather boring. But when I saw it with the roof on, I think I said... "oh, it looks like the drawings" hahaha like I expected this amazing thing.. nope Built with New Generation (Summit Homes) We own land!... with a slab on it! Plus a shell of a house with stuff inside ! Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 3Dec 15, 2009 10:37 pm I loved ours. Once I nagged the SS into repainting my portico beam the right colour. I had my doubtful moments during the build, but once it was all complete, it looked perfect. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 4Dec 15, 2009 11:11 pm So far I am really happy but we just got to frame stage today, As a custom design we only saw the facade on computer drawings, but I am happly with how the roof line has taken shape, and my timber post are just what I pictured. Fingers crossed I will still like it once its cladded. Cheers Lou http://take2-customdesigndownslope.blogspot.com 07-10-09 omg they have cut the block 14-05-10 we finally have the keys Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 5Dec 16, 2009 9:56 am I think I'm just having my doubts and moments that it isn't right. They look exactly like our drawings and we spent so much time trying to work out the colours and the way the front would go. At the moment it isn't right as it isn't finished nor do we have a front door or garage door yet so it's hard to put it into perspective. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 6Dec 16, 2009 3:03 pm Since ours was a custom design and our builder didn't have any sort of CAD system to generate how it would look - it was always a nagging concern in my mind. But D@n did a paint computer job for me which was pretty true to life. And I just kept saying to myself wait until everything is done before final judgement - concrete / plants etc. Happily enough I love it and so do most people that come to visit (not that that was a deciding factor but at least it must mean that I have some sort of okay taste ) Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 7Dec 16, 2009 3:13 pm I'm literally in LOVE with my facade.. it's not 100% yet finished yet but it's exactly how I pictured it and it's gorgeous. Many agonising hours were spent over the colours and we are soooooooo happy with how they have turned out! Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 8Dec 16, 2009 3:17 pm Haha Kyton. Thanks. I think you are right. I am sitting on the fence at the moment. Waiting patiently for everything to finish. Still have no front doors. Plastic still on windows and brickie mess at the front. I know it'll be awesome once we get some plants added. Very nicely interior decorated too. I just need to wait until everything is done until my final verdict. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 10Dec 16, 2009 3:25 pm Dollar - I remember panicking about the "orangeness" of the window frames and the "pinkness" of the bricks (ask SuH and Joles what I was like ) but then I thought just wait until the front doors then the garage doors then the stackstone which was to tie everything in together. And it did - huge gulp - luckily!! Moreso since DH refused to choose bricks / roof tiles / window colours etc - the only thing he chose on the external was the stackstone colour. Some things are worth waiting for. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 11Dec 16, 2009 4:48 pm A relief to hear Kyton. I am sure it'll work out just like we imagined. I'm looking forward to the bricks being clean! Yeah, we examine every colour up close on the house-then re-look at it over and over like nutters. Thank you buzz Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 14Dec 18, 2009 8:18 pm We are really happy with our facade...went with a second 'feature brick' for the balcony/verandah & we love the contrast between the two bricks. Still have scaffolding in front of the house so it is still hard to see what it will all look like...hoping to find the scaffolding gone when we visit our build on the weekend! I think it looks great from what I can see in your pics. We have used 3 different colour bricks for the front facade and it definitely is a unique facade that certainly has impact. I am starting to really love the fact we have a house different from others and were brave enough to choose something that was different and perhaps maybe "sore" to some people's eye. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 16Dec 19, 2009 3:56 am JohnnyD may I ask what is the name of the bricks you have used (the lighter/white looking bricks). Thanks. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 17Dec 19, 2009 8:55 am Thanks Dollar...We decided to do something different using the two bricks instead of using a render & are very happy with the result. The light brick is Austral Urban One - Silver & feature brick is Pepper. Will post some new pics on our thread if the scaffolding is down this weekend. Re: Facade-what were your thoughts? 20Mar 25, 2010 6:26 pm I'm not sure what you mean Tempura.... Often (usually?) the facade on display homes is an upgrade.
