Browse Forums General Discussion Re: building with Clarendon? 2Dec 15, 2009 7:24 pm Hi, We just signed our tender last week with Clarendon. So far they have been great. The sales guy has been so upfront and honest. He was so clear with the costs and he overbudgetted for the 'unknown sitecosts' so when we went in for our tender appt the site costs were actually 8k less than what we first anticipated..which was a huge relief! I had heard previosuly that clarendon weren't the best, but my husband and I looked very thoroughly and we kept going back to clarendon. The design (glenview in abbostbury) was great value for money and the sales guy was so genuine. We went to heaps others (masterton, all worth, etc. and it was like speaking to a recording, it was like being another number. So far so good with clarendon...I'll keep you posted! I did ask for feedback on clarendon on this site before we signed the tender but no one replied to me... so anyone else got any feeedback?? Re: building with Clarendon? 4Dec 17, 2009 6:23 am Hi Emma What state are you in? We had a disappointing situation with C in Vic and opted not to go ahead... Sales Consultant regularly didn't return calls or emails and gave us incorrect information.... CSC who we didn't really know but appeared to have a poor non-helpful attitude.... And a contract that was just ridiculously different to what we'd agreed upon. I think some of the time, its just about the staff you get through the process and how they treat you.. We're now using another builder and I've seen almost identical horror stories noted for them.. and yet we've found them to be amazing compared to the last one... I think it can also come down to different states - I believe C is supposed to be better in some states than others. Hopefully you get better treatment than us, as we really loved the house design they had and it was heartbreaking to have to settle for something different elsewhere. Good luck!! Re: building with Clarendon? 5Dec 17, 2009 9:26 am We are building with Clarendon, and I must say that we have had no problems so far. I was very lucky to have got a fantastic salesperson to begin with, and he recommended houses that he thought would suit us. Took us personally through some of the houses and explained what was included what was an extra etc. So thankyou Joe! Our CSC is also great, she returns phone calls promptly and if she's not too sure, she admits it and then will find out and solve the problem. Our site supervisor is also great, he's very helpful and doesn't mind answering our questions etc. So to answer your question, yes we are building with Clarendon, and I love my new house. I hope you're lucky in finding the right staff as it will make a difference, with whatever company you choose. Re: building with Clarendon? 6Dec 17, 2009 3:41 pm We considered Clarendon in Vic. The sales bloke seemed really knowledgeable. It all fell apart when we started asking questions. No responce despite phone calls asking for reply. Totally uninterested. Not building with this mob. [i][b]Krissy & Dave Re: building with Clarendon? 9Jan 08, 2010 7:38 am We finished building and moved in now. After looking at many builders we narrowed it down to three. Cl@r3ndon, m@$terton & @llca$tle. We went up to tender stage with these companies. Then, we talked to existing clients of above three companies. Cl@r3ndon & @llca$tle received good feedbacks. When I asked their clients a question like "If you have to build again would chose this builder again?" I got almost 100% yes to @llca$tle. Finally, we went with @llca$tle. What you see in their display is exactly what you get. Most other builders have ‘options’ in their display homes. At the end of the day, it mostly depends on the supervisor you get. We were lucky to get a good one (Steve G). If @llca$tle is reading this... give him a pay raise will ya? - devank Re: building with Clarendon? 10Jan 08, 2010 8:57 pm Hey Emma, THanks for all of your tips. Can't believe the drama with the study and the shrinking of the house...that must be a real *** me off. So did you continue on with this house? The whole thing about the sales rep and the area is definately cow manure cos we signed up at Macarthur and we are building down the south coast and their haywards bay office would have been closer. You must have had a ******* sales rep - we couldn't fault ours he was upfront and honest the whole time in fact his estimate came in $1000 more expensive than the tender price so he was right on the money and this includes the provisional allowances (for hitting rock etc.). So have u continued to build this? [i][b]Krissy & Dave Re: building with Clarendon? 12Jan 11, 2010 9:50 am baley - who is your salesperson? i prefer not to comment on who ours is as we are going to issue a formal complaint to Clarendon and fair trading about this person however if you have someone good are you happy to share who this is? i think the salesperson (and supervisor) can make or break the deal so to speak. if we end up going with another builder we will be asking for "references" of the salespeople! Re: building with Clarendon? 13Jan 30, 2010 12:57 am Hey Emma, sorry for my late reply i haven't been on for a while. sales person is Greg in elderslie nsw..could not fault his knowledge and service..big asset to c. [i][b]Krissy & Dave Re: building with Clarendon? 17Jun 08, 2010 8:08 pm Sorry for the delay..here are our plans so you can see... I hope this works...I am shocking with computers!
