I also agree with a good deck, it will always be popular. None of this fake ****! Re: What will you NEVER get sick of seeing? 23Dec 09, 2009 9:49 pm Beautifully kept homes and gardens, especially the old Queenslander style homes. Re: What will you NEVER get sick of seeing? 24Dec 09, 2009 10:07 pm Dollar Solid timber floors! None of this fake ****! especially the fake stuff that claims to be as good as the real stuff and cost about the same (what the). OK - I better add something valuable to the discussion while I'm here... OPEN SPACE - I never get sick of seeing lots of open space inside (hallways, stairwells, entrances, bedrooms, bathrooms, kitchens) and out. STORAGE AREAS - Quality built-in cupboards and hidden storage areas (under stairs, attics). Designed into the home, not added as an after-thought. NATIVE LANDSCAPING - nothing over the top (i.e. no dry river beds with tiny bridges, and no red ochre patches with stone carted from the other side of Australia). Just simple well though out layouts, with stunning natives. Re: What will you NEVER get sick of seeing? 26Dec 10, 2009 8:39 am Wow, JilaMint. I didn't know they were using that as a selling point for fake floors. Our Grey Ironbark timber floor has just been laid and it looks stunning. It's not even finished but I love it so much already. Yeah unusual I know - I've seen a product that is layers of plywood with a thin strip of either real wood or laminate on the surface (can't remember). It sells for not much less (maybe 20% less) than the real stuff. It looked OK, but it's one of those things where if you do some research you wonder why you would go down this path at all. Anyway - food for thought. Re: What will you NEVER get sick of seeing? 28Dec 10, 2009 12:46 pm A hyuuuuuuuuge laundry and lots of storage space. DH would say his 8 car garage but I can already see that being swallowed by kidlet paraphernalia over the coming years. My in-laws building a house next door to us and fingers crossed my parents moving into the other house on the other side so we will have a nice family unit all within 100m of each other. Some things are worth waiting for. They're simply stunning I also love verandahs that run all the way around them *sigh* my idea of heaven LOL I'll never get sick of seeing homes with huge open spaces. viewtopic.php?f=31&t=22766 - my build thread! NOTHING. I think that every single thing/selection we become tired of eventually. That's why I chose things I loved for my home, even if I thought I may get sick of them. I'd rather get sick of things that I truly loved at the beginning, than get sick of something that I chose to be "safe" and never really loved. You get sick of it ALL eventually. Agreed... why live on the safe side when you can enjoy things for a short time and then have an excuse to change it up when your tastes change! Live!!!! That sucks! Hope it all works out. Good to move away from steel anyway for all your reasons, but it's also thermally poor. 16 17890 Depends how much direct sun it gets. Is there any shading (eaves or trees)? If the sun hits a window directly it doesn't matter too much if it's double or single… 1 12671 9 24815 |
