Browse Forums General Discussion Re: What are you sick of seeing? 381Aug 29, 2010 9:14 am I think so Helyn. Our last house we had a 6x9m shed, it was my hubby's pride and joy. He'd quite often go missing, and I'd find him sitting in the shed reading the paper or what not lol. We moved into this rental, and all the stuff we had in that huge shed has had to be squashed into the garage. We have a 4WD and with all that stuff plus a big trailer, the only way to get the car in there too is to get all the kids out first, and I only have the tiniest spot to get out of. Alot of garages these days aren't big either. The house we are renting, our car only fits in height wise with literally an inch to spare, and our neighbours can't fit their car in because it's not long enough!! These are your standard double garages too! We have made our new garage extra high, and extra long for storage, but we will still have a little garden shed out the back for lawnmower and stuff. ETA: we only fit the car in there as my hubby is surprisingly neat when it comes to his man cave and managed to stack things to make lots of room, and there is heaps of stuff stored in the trailer too Re: What are you sick of seeing? 382Aug 29, 2010 10:54 am ^^^^ Same here Rizzo- we have to store so much stuff in the garage in this rental due to the serious lack of storage space in the house! That's apart from the fact that the house is squeezed on a block just over 500 sqm in size-so the garage is full and until we move into the new house the cars will be parked outside! Mind you-at the new place the garage will be solely for the cars & bikes! We had 2 sheds in our last house and no garage! I can get my car in the garage, but no room for Hubby's car at the moment. We also have 4 bikes, lawn mower, trimmer, various garden impliments, shelves full of tools and 'bits', the second fridge, the esky, a cupboard full of other stuff, a shelf full of shoes, a pine shelf I'm halfway through painting and Hubby's beer making gear. If he wants to get his car in, maybe he can put the beer elsewhere! Because I leave last in the morning and get home first at night, I get the garage! As for things I'm sick of seeing, I'll make no comment for fear of offending many people! I know what I like and I know what looks good in my house and what would look terrible! Each to their own!! Henley - Wilshire Mk 3 ... I love my house!! I've given up with my eldest. The thing that drives me even more crazy than how bad it looks is that it ruins their pants. The crotch seam splits on a regular basis, because it isn't designed to be subjected to the sort of stress it cops when it's halfway down their thighs. I refuse to fix them for him now. If he can't wear his pants properly, too bad. And I don't buy his undies. He's 22 and that's plenty old enough to buy your own jocks. Stormy, your garage sounds exactly like ours. Except we do have a small shed for mower and garden/BBQ stuff. Still, we can only get one car in almongst the fridge, freezer, beer brewing gear, three bikes, cupboard full of bike gear, cupboard full of power tools, shelves full of car maintenance stuff, boxes of things that don't have a home inside the house but can't be thrown out, spare tiles and other building bits and pieces, shoes, shoes and more shoes (muddy of course ), plus the desk and chairs I'm working on. No big deal - our driveway is wide enough for two extra cars and we only have three. Until the next child gets his licence in a few months. My boys (15 & 16) think they look stupid too. Judie Re: What are you sick of seeing? 392Aug 30, 2010 9:56 am Jocks are nothing to worry about, even though i don't like them. What about females with hipster jeans sitting down and you get an eye full of their bum. Not a good look. I was in a store one day when an older woman assistant had low cut jeans and was leaning over to the back of the counter area. I got an eye full again. Not good. Wish I was brave enough to tell them. Re: What are you sick of seeing? 396Aug 30, 2010 12:32 pm We have the same covenenat and I actually really like it. Our estate is very open and it would look absolutely sh*tful in 10 years to have crapola sheds everywhere. Not every one maintains them and they often become rat infested cesspits. The other issue is on smaller blocks, the sheds can take up half the backyard and block the light that the neighbours are getting. Garage extensions instead of sheds seems to be becoming more common. I really prefer that option over sheds to be honest. I leave you to fend for yourself, figure things out yourself.
